Hello everyone.

We are planning a trip to Disney's Hilton Head resort. This is going to be our first trip to Hilton Head and first trip staying at a DVC resort. Have some questions.

1) We are flying Airtran. On airtrans site it says Hilton Head SAV and when you go to confirm your reservation it calls it Savannah GA for the airport. How far is this from Hilton Head Resort?

2) Are there many activites you can take part in at the resort? Do any have costs?

3) What is some not to miss restaurants in the area? Nothing fancy but something nice.

4) Anything else you recommended doing I would appreciate any advice.

Thank you.:thumbsup2

PM me your email address and I'll send you the daily activities sheets from last summer. Anyone else can also.

The airport is Hilton Head/Savannah International airport. It's a one-hour drive from the airport to the resort. A car is pretty much a necessity if you want to enjoy all the Island has to offer.

Also, make sure you use the Disney Beach House which is in Palmetto Dunes plantation across William Hilton Parkway from the resort. There is a shuttle service or you can drive. I would recommend you go into Sea Pines plantation at the south end of the island one day (it won't take the whole day unless you'd like it to). It costs $5 per car to enter, but you can come and go as often as you like that day. In Sea Pines, go to the south beach marina area and to the Harbour Town area. There are shopping and restaurants and marinas (obviously) in both areas. The Coligny shopping area is also fun; that's where one of the public beaches is.

I would suggest you eat at the Crazy Crab on the north end of the island (not the one in Sea Pines). Also, the Old Oyster Factory is good. Hudson's on the Docks on Squire Pope Road is also not fancy but good.

Have a nice trip.

We went to a place called Tapas last month and the food was great! It's located in a strip mall near the theater. The place is very nice, but not too fancy (how fancy can you be in a strip mall), and a little eclectic. If you don't know what tapas are, its the Spanish word for a variety of appetizers. The food here isn't Spanish, but the place serves mini-appetizer sized meals priced around $10 each. This way you can order two or three different items for variety. Or better yet, order several different things between a couple or group/family and share.

I would say it is more like 45 minutes from the airport unless you are going on a Saturday during peak season in which case it could be more like 75 minutes as the traffic backs up terribly.

DVC Hilton Head is a great place. Plenty of activities for the kids (and adults) without extra charges. There are also other activities for additional cost, most within reason - bikes, kayaking, dolphin tours, etc.

Restaurants are everywhere - Guiseppes has decent italian food with pizza takeout, Wild Wings is great for wings (of course), I agree with The Old Oyster Factory (always good - can be busy during peak). Most of the joints across from Disney property aren't bad and are within walking distance - with shopping.

Have a great time - we're going back this May!

We love HHI and have been every year at least once since we joined DVC. The resort has lots of fun things for all ages. I would recommend crabbing off of the pier (My kids love it!) and you can get all the equipment from the resort. The island is also bike friendly. You can either rent from Disney or an outside company and they will deliver the bikes and pick them up. One year we went on the dolphin cruise and that was great!! It was a small boat and very personal. Much better than nonDisney tours that involved large boats and a greater number of people.

Of course the beach house, HHI has an awesome beach and in the summer the water is soooo warm!

Places to eat are abundant. I agree with Guiseppe's for take out. We almost always order in at least once. Also agree with Wild Wings for great variety and unique wing combos. We have started going to Coligny Plaza as part of our tradition. Lots of places to eat and shops to look through.

I am rambling but one more thing; we always try to grill out at the resort at least once per trip. We usually do this on fireworks night or campfire night so that we don't have to leave and just enjoy the resort activities. I hope you guys have so much fun!!

HHI is great. We own at BCV & SSR, but haven't even stayed there yet as we go to HHI more frequently.

Guiseppes is good pizza we eat there at least once to.

Also we'll go to the Sunrise Cafe for breakfast at least once. Nothing fancy but good food, and CLEAN. The decor is a little spartan, but that is what we like.

There is a Japanese restaurant near the circle before entering Sea Pines and their early bird special is a good deal.

Also near/on the circle is that restaurant that's all lit up and I think they kind of have an island atmosphere/menu,(Found out it is Marley's) anyway the ice cream is FAB!!!!!!!!!!!!

Savannah is great, I never tire of visiting. I went to Kevin Barry's for the first time in December, great atmosphere and great food.

Also Jen's & Friends on Congress & Bull is a Martini bar. One of the board member's sister owns & runs it. It has great reviews and I am hoping to visit it in a few weeks.

Have fun on the trip, we always go when it's not crowded or off peak and we love it, we just chill there :)
