Regarding the thread about stairs/elevators/baggage - are there bell hops to help with luggage when you check in?

Also - how tough is it to book HH for Easter Weekend? We will have to wait for the 7 mo window, looking for a 1 bedroom.

No bellhops - and boy did I miss them all the way up three flights of stairs!!!!

Though there are no bellhops, there are wooden carts (appropriate to the theming of HH) with a hanging rack available at most entrances to the resort grounds from the parking lot. They're a bit bulky but hold a lot of luggage. You can haul your stuff in one trip (maybe two), then at least park it at the bottom of the steps to your suite. :earsboy:

Wow-thats not good! My husband had a heart attack and is not supposed to do heavy lifting! I guess I'll do the honors. Im a bit surprised about that.

What about availability at 7 mos for Easter? Any idea?

No sure way of knowing about availability until you get to that 7-mos point. Generally speaking, the threads on here have seemed to suggest that you might not get a 1BR that late, but 2BRs are sometimes easier to get. Good luck!

The good news is that since you want a 1BR, there's a good chance that you'll be in the Live Oak Lodge, which has elevator access. 16 of the 21 1BRs are located there. Be sure to request elevator access when you make your reservation.

The resort is usually sold out for Easter, so getting a 1BR at 7 months will likely be more difficult than at other times of the year. Good luck!

We are also looking to book a one bedroom for that same time frame. My son's school vacation is that week following Easter. I spoke to MS yesterday about another question I had about HH and she reminded me that Easter is also that weekend and I would have to call daily to get reservations. :worried: Now I'm worried about not being able to get what I want for that week. My son starts kindergarten in the fall and I already don't like being a slave to the school calendar.

Thanks to everyone - I will be sure to mention the elevator when we call!

DH called MS today to check - they said there is plenty of availability right now, just warned us to be sure to call at exactly the 7 mo window.

One of DH's friends was in HH last week and wanted to get into HH DVC to watch fireworks. Of course he couldnt get past the gate without the magical blue card, but he told DH the resort looked beautiful - now of course DH is very excited!

How is the weather at HH in April?

You never know what you're going to get! We have gone the first week of April for the past several years, as that is our "fixed" spring break for schools. We have been there when it's been in the 80s and felt like summer :sunny: and we have been there when the highs have been in the 40s with lots of rain :sad2:. We love the resort so much that the weather doesn't matter. There is plenty to do on the island even if the weather doesn't allow for the beach.

BTW, just in case you're really looking forward to the fireworks, they are only in the summer....

Is this a good thing? We have a one BR booked in mid September. We are not DVC members. We booked through an agency. What is the location like to the pool, easy access?

The resort is small. If you're in the lodge, you're farther away from the pool, but it's not a bad walk at all. Very pleasant actually! But, if you're in the lodge, you will be closer to the shuttle for the beach house (not to mention the cookies and lemonade at Big Murggie's Den every afternoon!!)

Truly -- it doesn't matter. We've never had a "bad" location (we almost always have a 2BR). Once you've been there, you'll understand... ;)
