I'm counting down the days. We'll be there two weeks from today and we can't wait. I'm already planning where to eat. Last time we really enjoyed the Old Oyster Factory and plan on eating there again. We'll likely do breakfast and lunch in the villa (unless we're at the beach) and would like some other suggestions for our dinner meals. We did Guiseppe's last time and may try it again, but these are the only two places we're going to be loyal to. What are suggestions for the "not to miss" places at HH? We have three children, so we don't want a "fine dining" experience, but we do appreciate a good meal and the kids are usually well behaved.

TIA

Try Hudson's. It's like a step down in atmosphere from Old Oyster Factory, and a little less fancy food-wise, but the food is GREAT and it's a fun place to take the family.

I just wanted to say have a great trip! We tend to stick to the same places when we eat at Hilton Head but I think we'll try to venture out a bit this trip. One place that we did enjoy last time was "Crabby Nicks". I think that's the name. The front desk will know for sure. I remember you make a right as you leave the complex and drive down about 5 minutes. The restaurant is on the left-hand side of the road. The food was really good and the place was fairly casual.

There's also a Fuddruckers in the same parking lot as Guiseppe's which is always great for a burger, fries and a shake. Enjoy!

This is a must! Best Seafood at a great price!

When you leave the resort you will need to turn right at the light and it is about 5 minutes from the resort. I believe you will need to pass Pirate Pete's miniature golf that is also on the right.

The atmosphere is OK! If you want to order and take it "HOME" you can do that too. Very cafe style, but with a full bar!;)

Try it! We will definately go back in March!:teeth:

Have a GREAT vacation!

In April as per Chef Gordon's recomendation we went to a place called Just Pasta. You pick out the pasta you want and the sauce you want. It was very fresh and excellent. It is a small place, so I would either go early or call for reservations. We also have been to Captain's Seafood both times that we went to HH. Not a fancy place, but it was great seafood and not expensive. Everyone here on the boards raves about Giuseppi's. We went there the first year, but none of us (2 adults, 3 kids) cared for it. We just had pizza, but we are used to much better pizza here in the NY area. Enjoy!

If you like mexican, I never miss San Miguels. it is right across the resort, and you can walk there. ( and walk off dinner) it is the least expensive of the shelter cove rest. And I always sit outside and just stare at all the boats. they have live music there to in season. It is close to Pirate Cove Mini golf if you have bikes. (you can get there by a wooded trail by shelter cove III.

We really liked the pizza at The Mellow Mushroom better than Guiseppi's. The seafood was good at the Salty Dog Cafe.

We love the Salty Dog for atmosphere, and the food was pretty good, too! I think that place is going to be our "must stop" on every trip!

Thanks for all the responses! Now, if I only had enough points to stay there long enough to try them all! Oh yeah, and a longer fall break from school! Seriously, thanks for all the suggestions. I'll post when we get back of what we tried and liked.

In my defense the food was really good. Even my picky sister and bil enjoyed the food. I might have the name wrong but I'm gonna find that place when we go in a few weeks. You will never go hungry at Hilton Head - that's for sure. I'm also looking forward to A Private Affair with Chef Gordon. He has been so wonderful and accommodating over email that I know our anniversary dinner will be just great.

Btw, Chef Gordon e-mailed me his new menu so if anyone is interested, just let me know and I'll cut and paste it here.

I'd love to know more about "A Private Affair" and the menu Chef Gordon has selected for y'all!

We have done "A Private Affair" twice, and will do it again next spring. His crabcakes are the best -- they are legendary. I do not know if he has them on the menu (we had them as an appetizer), but I am sure if they are not he will make them for you. They are not to be missed!

Below is the email I received from Chef Gordon over the weekend. He is very accommodating about making whatever you like but this will give you an idea of what you can have. We are having french onion soup and crab stuffed mushroom caps for our appetizer; my hubby is having the Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Vidalia Onion Confit and I'm having a surf and turf (NY strip steak with mushrooms and onions) along with shrimp scampi. I think I want twice baked potatoes for our starch and a veggie. We had agreed to have cheesecake with strawberry sauce and champagne for dessert until my husband found out about the peach cobbler with cinnamon whipped cream so we're having that with vanilla bean ice cream. I am getting so hungry just thinking about it! I can't wait for November!
