Hello!
We have always been very impressed with how WDW handles food allergies.
My question though is this: We are going to stay a night at Hilton Head DVC and wanted to see if anyone has had experience with how they handle food allergies there. My son is severely allergic to peanuts/tree nuts.
Hoping they handle things as well as the Disney properties do.
THANKS!!

Hi, sometimes we do a one night stay there (coming from clt) and have a blast!! Get there early and enjoy all the activities. :)

My youngest ds also has a nut allergy and I haven't had any concerns at the HH DVC. There are only 2 small counter service places on property, one at the main pool and one at the beach pool. They serve typical things like hamburgers, chicken fingers, etc. Nothing I've even thought twice about, although I'm sure you can ask when you place your order. The gift store sells a few pre-packaged snack items but those are all labelled. Activities: campfire night with s'mores should be fine. If you do the Unbirthday Party they give out cupcakes IIRC...ask about these, but again, they serve them every week and I personally never gave it a second thought. Coming from home it's also very easy to pack some safe snacks to carry along if you want.

Have a great time!!!

We've stayed at the HHI DVC property before and there is not much of a food venue to choose from like the pp stated. While they are good with the food allergies, the vigilance is not like what you would get at WDW, where they deal with food allergies of all kinds on a consistant basis.
When we were there, the chocolate for the s'mores was NOT ok, and decided to provide our own s'more fixins which was just fine!
Since you will have access to your own kitchen in the resort, I would stick with your own easy meals/snacks. There are a lot of restaurants surrounding the area, I would look at a menu and talk to the chef or manager before choosing, there are a lot of HHI restaurants we cannot eat at with the severe peanut/tree nut allergy.
Oh, and only one night? You will never want to leave! ;)
