Hilton Head Beach Question

Hi fellow DVC members:

In the past when we stayed at the Disney resort, you could ride or walk over to the DVC beach house and beach without having to drive in the van. Is that still true AND if my kids forget their keys, can they still get on the beach without having to go through the beach house?

The beach is a public beach and there are multiple entry points to it. The easiest from the DVC beach house is to go underneath the beach house through the parking garage. The beach house is the only thing that requires the room key.
