We're heading to HH in 3 weeks. Hubby is a big golfer. Do any of the golf courses near the resort offer discounts for DVC members?

My DH is a BIG golfer also. The only courses that seem to offer a discount are the 3 Palmetto Dunes courses across the way, and their discounts are based on you staying at the DHHIR, not just DVC. I mention that because I know a few DVC members go to HHI but don't stay at the DVC resort. BTW, DH has golfed at every course that he could get on (not the ones that are super-private) on HHI, many multiple times. He loves golfing there.

As noted above, I'm unaware of any DVC discounts for HHI golf courses; however, there are some discounts offered online or via golf publications if you do a little research. We were there in July, and though I didn't play, I did pick up some golf publications that offered some discounts. Further, many offer discounts for tee times in the late afternoon or evening hours.

I don't generally golf but my SIL does so I get exposed plus we just got an exchange for next summer that includes 10 free rounds of golf including cart. There are websites that do last minute tee times discounted. Many of the courses have specials for certain times/days. The Heritage group has all you can play specials for different lengths to time. I'd search through the various discount and HHI specific sites looking for courses and specials.

For those that have played at HHI, how are the courses as far as single golfers. I love golf but have never played on HHI because I am always by my self. We are at HHI right now and I didn't bring my clubs (wouldn't have mattered as the weather is terrible) but we're coming back the first week of November and I'd love to play a round, even if I have to play right by myself.

Most of the courses pair you up with other golfers, who are usually on vacation, and it's always been nice. On rare occasions (Hilton Head Country Club, for instance), DH's been told that "I don't think any of our members want to play with a visitor today [even though they advertise that they're public]" so then DH has to play by himself. Palmetto Dunes and Hilton Head National have always been super, and I'm pretty sure Palmetto Dunes, at least, rents clubs (but I'm not 100% positive). We're VERY familiar with golfing in November-be prepared for the possibility of a frost delay if you make an early morning tee time. That's happened to DH a few times-scheduled around 7:30, but unable to get off until around 9:00, because they have to wait for the sun to warm up the frost.

Thanks Simba's Mom for the information. I will probably try to play one of the PD courses, since they are right there. I don't mind playing with others, as long as they are willing to put up with a 20 handicapper.

PLEASE don't worry about your handicap. " We're all on vacation-it's about having fun!" DH is a pretty good golfer, handicap varies between 2 and scratch, depending on how much he's been practicing, so when he gets paired with others at HHI, he so often gets apologies from others about not being as good as he is. The above is his favorite quote. Enjoy!

You could try www.Golfnow.com They frequently have discounted rates. I use it in Orlando but have not been to HHI in a few years. I am not sure how many courses on the website for Hilton Head. HH National is a nice course of note it is not on Hilton Head Island I think a couple of miles before. Also remember playing I think Eagle Point there and it was a nice course. There are also courses listed for nearby areas depending on how far you might want to travel. Enjoy!!!

Does anyone know if the Disney Resort has any golf packages you can book. Say....play "x" amount of rounds and save...or something along those lines....

I'm an avid golfer, my wife golfs, and my 8 year old is starting to look like he's got some natural talent. So I'm considering trying to buy some HHI points, but want to do some extensive research on the golf on HHI first. If we are spending $300 for 3 of us to play one round of golf, it's probably not going to be worth it.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you much,
Brad

Others might have more extensive information regarding golf packages, but I have done some minor research and, like with many resort areas, there are all manners of discounts and packages aside from anything the HHI Disney resort might have. These range from playing later in the day when it's much cheaper to signing up for a "club" that uses several different resorts and you get the ability to play at them for a reduced cost. I feel certain you could find golf outings for reasonable costs. That being said, if you buy into HHI, just do your research prior to buying. Primarily, be aware that they have some of the highest annual maintenance fees among all the resorts. Good luck!

As noted, lots of options but I'm not sure of anything specific to the resort or membership. Heritage group has a pretty good combo package.

If you find any considerable discounts, please post them! Typically, DH plays 4-5 rounds each time we go. One of the best deals he's gotten is at Hilton Head National, relatively low golf fees and in excellent shape (at least according to DH, who used to be an assistant greenskeeper and is very/too picky). Unfortunately, from what I've read, Hilton Head National may not be lasting long.

As mentioned above use Golfnow or also Teeoff. I use them when play at HHI and many good prices and specials can be found.

We always use teetime golf pass for golf course deals. Have north carolina and south carolina
