Hilton Anaheim walk?

My husband and I currently have the Alpine Inn booked for our three night stay next week and I'm looking for a better deal. I'm a bit of a hotel snob so I'm fine paying more for a nicer place, but DH is fine with the cheapest dirt motels ever so I'm looking for inexpensive but tolerable.

I can get the Hilton Anaheim for $119/night (before taxes) which is only $10 more a night than the alpine inn (we have to pay for parking at the Hilton but whatever). I was all set to book but google maps says it's a 21 minute walk which seems really far- has anyone does the walk recently? Is there a short cut that maybe google maps can't figure out?

There is no short-cut for walking but we take the Toy Story Shuttle back from the parks at night. The lot is right across Harbor from the Hilton and you just have to walk from the middle of the lot where the shuttle drops off to Harbor and then one short block (Convention Way, i think) after crossing the street. Not really sure what exact distance it saves, but at least your feet get a break while you're on the bus.

The Hilton is where we stay most of the time. Starbucks, bar and restaurant in the lobby are nice features.

I did that walk about 3 years ago and it was a good 15 minutes at a brisk pace if you didn't get caught at many lights so 21 sounds about right. If I'd know about the Toy Story parking lot being across the street I would have done that if I'd been staying there and going to the parks. I would not have wanted to make that walk after being in the parks all day. I just did it as a quick trip down one evening to go to DTD while I was on a business trip.

We stayed at the Hilton last December and used ART {Anaheim Resort Transportation). It cost $5 per person for an all day pass and picks up right there in front of the Hilton and drops you off at the Disneyland entrance. (well as close as you can get to the entrance.) After a long day of walking through the parks, it was totally worth it! You can purchase your passes online and have them delivered to the hotel as long as it's at at least 3 days prior to your check in. That's what we did. http://rideart.org/

The Alpine Inn doesn't look that impressive from the outside, I have to give you that, lol.

We walked past it last trip to go to DTD without going through the esplanade.

Hilton is great, IMO, except that the elevators can be a bit of a wait. (it's a convention hotel so there are always groups there)

I don't think the walk is bad, and you go past the CVS which is nice to grab waters or a snack etc, or if you forgot sunglasses or need glucosamine etc etc etc.

Oh and Hilton's breakfast buffet is REALLY good, if you can deal with the expense.

And that is an AMAZING rate for the Hilton.

My DH like to stay at the Hilton, the parking rate is pricey, but the hotel is really nice and recently renovated. We love the bar and Starbucks in the lobby. We are both in good shape and found the walk back to the hotel LONG! We were regretting not taking ART or catching a cab. To be fair, it was a 24 hour day party and it was 2am and we were spent, but it was quite a long trek after being in the parks all day. Taking the toy story bus, ART or catching a cab/uber would probably be best at least for the walk back at night after being in the parks all day. =) Oh, and we requested a room away from the elevators, and boy did they ever put us far away from the elevators! It was great noise wise, but that night it felt like an eternity to get to our room! LOL:rotfl:

We have stayed at the Hilton previously (and we have it booked for an upcoming trip). The walk is approx. 15 minutes (give or take). We also bought ART passes for the longer days at the park (really good value). I think the ART runs every 20 minutes or so. If we missed one we just walked. I think the Hilton is excellent value, very good amenities. I also agree that the breakfast buffet is very good (US $26.50). I would certainly recommend staying there.
