Hilten Head this spring

Hey everyone. I'm new to this board and new to the DVC. We just joined this month. We're very excited!

My family wants to make a reservation for HH this March. We need to borrow points from 2002 (April). We also need to wait until we close (Nov 27, 2001) to borrow the points. My question is this: Do you anticipate us having trouble securing a one bedroom at HH for late March? Our home is VWL.

My second question is: We are also planning to do Thanksgiving at VWL next year. Should I have any trouble booking a studio at my 11 month window?

The best answer is...you'll never know until you call MS. There are often many changes within the DVC system.

One problem with HH is that there are only 26 1BR's total (26 studios also) and they tend to go fairly quickly during popular times. Late March is a busy time at that resort.

Call MS and see what's available. You never know!

If you have an April use year and you are going to make a reservation for March, make sure you plan on going. If you cancel for some reason the points must be used before March 31 or you lose them.

Depending on when they want to go, there are several options. Easter (24-31) will be very difficult but the first half to 3/4 of March should be easy. As a matter of fact, you can likely get into a Marriott for a week for the cost of a studio as exchange. Either way, DVC or II exchange, you should have lots of options except the week before Easter.

We tried for a studio at the seven month window and were put on the waiting list for Thanksgiving week. It came through and we are leaving tomorrow for the long drive. When we return I will send a detailed message on how it all went. We ordered the turkey dinner to be delivered at $105.00 so there will be a message about that too.

We tried to get a one bedroom at HH and could not for two different weeks in April and tried one in June (7 month window).

A one bedroom in late March is going to be real hard to find because Easter is the last Sunday in March and as Doc said they only have 26 1-bedroom units (and we have one for that week). You would have much better luck with a 2-bedroom. You can always stay one less night and move up to a 2 bedroom if they are available and if points used are a concern (aren't they always).

I tried for that week a couple weeks ago in a studio and it was all booked up. Usually they offer other accomodations, ie. 1-br or 2-br but they didn't. Makes me wonder if those too are also booked up. Good luck! They did offer the week before though.

We recently booked a 1br at the 7 month window for Memorial Day week, then we head down to BWV for a week. Wahoo!
