What the heck is going on with the posts? Oh where oh where will this one end up?

They're all mixed up. It's kind of funny trying to read through a thread and figure out what goes where. I guess it's easier to figure out what's going on for the posts of the people who are quoting others but for the main part, it's just confusing.

I think DISUNC is behind it.

I've noticed his posts are usually last. I think he wants to always have the last word.

Well, it was not intended for that purpose but I would not begrudge anyone a laugh right now. Times are stressful for most people these days -be it the economy or getting caught up in this election.


Look, I have stayed of this thread for a looooooong time and only came back because it is obvious from some of the posts that anyone who comes here to encourage people to vote for Obama is going to get derided as an OS who is trying to bully people and that is not necessarily true. I understand why people who have been OS since the beginning would not get respect when it comes to persuading people to vote, but I don't' buy the argument that is wrong for anyone to persuade people to vote for one candidate or another. That's what elections are all about.

Some of you here have been trying to persuade each other to vote for McCain by posting various articles and that seems to be okay, but a person who was an HS who posted on this thread before the primary was over is not allowed to persuade you to vote for Obama?

In case you haven't noticed, quite a few of the posters in this thread are going to vote for Obama, and the ones voting for McCain could hardly be called enthusiastic about having to vote for him. We aer merely discussing all available possibilities.

I noticed. I also noticed some are intent of getting others to vote for McCain and that does seem more acceptable then those who are intent on getting others to vote for Obama.


I mean if posting negative headlines about Obama in a huge font is not trying to persuade people not to vote for him...

This is a thread that has suffered a lot of abuse from the OS throughout this primary. Of course we’ll look at you as attacking us … especially with statements such as this:

It's your right. God bless America! Yes, by all means make being anti-abortion a reason to vote for McCain even though Hillary is as pro-choice as they get. That makes perfect sense.

That statement made by you and directed primarily towards me (but also including a lot of others) were attacking. And false. We still get attacks from you. Not legit reasons for why we should vote Obama. But you know, I'm finding a lot of reasons to not vote for the man that the media will not cover and the OS will not speak about. In this forum, since none of us started out as OS and since there are real issues about the man that seriously needs to be vetted on - I'm posting that information and letting people chose to do with that info what they want. I just want some of that info out there. AND, if the HS on this thread want to post news articles/stories about McCain so we can have a discussion about why we shouldn't vote for him - no one's stopping that.

But seriously, since you were never a HS, DISUNC started a thread about why you should vote for Obama. It’s a positive thread. I was just reading it. It has exactly three pages to it and is currently on page 3 of the CB. Instead of coming onto the Hillary thread, a thread that you never really made an appearance on except to attack people, why don’t you guys actually get that thread going and attract Hillary supports to it? That positive thread about Obama is dying off and instead, you’re popping in on an established thread and then getting upset that some of us are against Obama. Some of us are. Some of us always will be. Let us, an established group, figure out what we are going to do.

We’re a group that was formed by supporting Hillary Clinton. Not Barrack Obama. Hillary Clinton is no longer in the Presidential race and now each of us has to choose another candidate to vote for. We are discussing amongst ourselves who we will vote for. Some will, and have already stated, that they will vote for Obama and some will, and have already stated, that they will vote for McCain. And some of us just don’t know what we’ll do come November.

Just wanted to comment that absolutely no one on this thread (even the ones who are voting for McCain) are on cloud 9 about him. We recognize McCain for what he is. He's been in the public eye for many years and we all know his drawbacks.

What many of us (and here I include all voters, not just people on this thread) do not know about is Obama. He is a newcomer and a dark horse. That's why were are gathering as much information about him as possible to make an informed voting decision come November.

You make a good point but keep in mind that this won't be an OS thread either. I thought it might at one time but there's no way now.

I think that this thread is morphing into "something" but I'm not sure what just yet. I guess that's one reason why I stick around so much. I'm curious to see what (if anything) Hillary does next too. It's fine that she threw her support behind Obama but I'm interested in where she's going too.

You know, I sometimes feel that I’m the teacher in Charlie Brown and when I attempt to speak to the OS all you guys will ever hear is ‘waa waa waawa waa' and ignore the point of the post and pick out key words to go off on.

If you want to come on this thread and honestly discuss with us the issues that we are discussing about Obama : his shady dealings with Rezko, Ayers, El-Hady, the stuff he hasn’t done for the state of Illinois but he promised to do while running for Senate (like the medical care crisis with all the doctors leaving the state due to malpractice lawsuits), the fact that he’s flip-flopped on so many issues (gun bans now being the latest one) and he has very little voting to back-up which stance he really is for – he hardly ever votes. He just keeps voting ‘present’ and refuses to take stances on issues. Just because the man’s a Democrat doesn't mean that he will stay loyal to his party on issues. His character is proving to be one that’ll go whichever direction benefits him the most.

I would love to hear the OS take on this and many more issues. But when you guys come here – it’s to bash. It’s not to discuss. There’s no discussion.

But seriously, take my advice about the pro-Obama thread created by DISUNC. There is no point talking issues with people who change what issues are important to them because their candidate did not win the primary.

You have made it clear that you are more in line with con issues anyway, which is why you won't tolerate McCain bashing on this thread but are ok with Obama bashing.

I made it clear that I vote Democratic because of the issues. If the superdelegates changed their minds and gave Hillary the vote, I wouldn't suddenly change being afraid of who McCain would appoint to the SC, I wouldn't all of sudden decide that McCain having more experience in the Senate and fighting in a war was what this country needed etc.

The recent Supreme Court decisions kind of woke me up. The court is so closely divided - and the liberal minded justices are closer to retirement than those young, Bush-appointed neo-conservative judges are!

I can't have on my conscience that I enabled McCain and his party to choose future justices.

But I am by no means happy about it!

I still feel Hillary would have made a much better President than Obama or McCain........

Now - start thinking about those 10 days in Saratoga! I've been starting to think about our upcoming 10 days at the Boardwalk!!!

It might be our last vacation the way the economy has been tanking lately!!!

The Supreme Court is the ONE issue I dont have with ANY Presidential candidate. YES the Pres picks who He wants...But Congress MUST APPROVE.
I always saw the SD candidate really a Congressional issue, not a Presidential issue. And I always thought it was odd that this is always a Presidential Campaign thing.

You are right about the Senate having to approve - but look at the recent Supreme Court nomination hearings - those judges are skilled at saying NOTHING - that will allude to their positions on the hot button issues of the day. So - a democratic controlled Senate will not be able to veto every nomination McCain puts in front of them. And you've got to imagine that every person McCain chooses will be conservative - and interpret the constitution literally - which to me is like interpreting the bible literally! (Yes, I'm that liberal! )

At least - Obama would choose liberal-minded or center-minded justices to start with........

That thought process is where my decision stems from.......

Do I think Obama will do anything about UHC? Nope.
Nafta? Nope
Balance Budge\Pay Off Deficit - Maybe
Foreign Policy Successes? - Maybe - depends who the Secretary of State is...
Win a Debate over McCain? Maybe - both are not the best debaters
Give a better speech than McCain? Yes.

Just giving a little insight to my decision process - I totally respect how each of you come to yours. Heck - I thought about voting for McCain for a while now (really I was just going to stay home.... ) Probably still can - NJ is supposed to be blue in the general election.......

You are correct. Alito and Roberts - if they had their way - would overturn a lot of the decisions conservatives had issues with over the years - the main one being Roe v Wade - under the guise that it should be a states rights issue......

And McCain would try to appoint another Alito, Roberts or heck forbid - Thomas. Thomas got appointed - even though he sexually harrassed a fellow co-worker.....

What a cop out. We've been talking all along about the Reznek, Ayers, the inconsistencies in Obama's positions, and the ridiculous number of times he's voted "present" instead of casting a real vote. But none of you seem to think those things are issues or relevant. But they are to us and they have been all along.

I think it's hilarious that the OS are given a thread where they can talk about the wonder and splendor that is Obama - and it's on the third page. Not much of substance to talk about is there?

And for the record, McCain will never get my vote, and neither will Obama. I'm still voting for Hillary.

I’ve never not tolerated McCain bashing on this thread. How can I not tolerate a topic that’s not really discussed? As I stated earlier, if one of the HS want to bring up the issues on McCain while we discuss and sort out who we are all voting for, I’m totally fine with that and would like to hear more about him from people other than Republicans. And don’t even go back to that one post by Peter Pan; that was a bash post with no intentions of discussing issues or offering insight to the candidate.
