Bestie at work?

Even though I work remote, I have two besties that I adore. We are NOTHING alike. I’m a middle aged Gen X divorced white woman with a teenage daughter. The BFFs are both completely different from me in pretty much every demographic and personality trait. Both in Texas where my company has a lot of presence, while I’m on the east coast. I could not survive without these ladies! We text all day every day and share everything. Never met them, rarely have Zoom with them, but they have my heart. Heck, we’re not even on the same teams!

Do you all have work kindred spirits? Especially those that it might shock everyone if they knew? lol the fun part of WFH is nobody has a clue!

There are 2 women I work with that I consider my work "wives" -- one in her 40s with a daughter that's close in age to my son and a woman in her 50s with 3 boys from elementary to college aged. My son is 8 and I'm 35.

No but I would love a work environment like that. After 20 years I was let go from my position due to a "change in direction" aka too much money. Now I work starting at the bottom in a whole new career change in my 50's. I work with 12 other ladies and all I can say is "High School"..... I would dream of a WFH job where I can have great relationships with my co-workers.

I've developed a bit of a bestie type relationship with some of the people I work/volunteer with at the animal shelter. They've helped me a great deal through my transition to English life. I make sure I let them know quite often how much I appreciate and love them. They've made my life so much easier. Not sure what I'd do without them.

I have a good friend at work who has become a part of my outside of work friends. She was a part of girls weekend last weekend. I also have a work ‘husband’ that has become good friends with my DH. We are all in very different parts of the company and I would guess most people at work don’t know we are friends.

We started by private messaging at work, probably mainly commiserating which led to texting so nobody could access our message. Just turned into regular conversations about every day life on a daily basis. I’m so close to one that she said she and her DH would be our witnesses in Vegas when I get remarried

It is definitely high school and I’m in my 50s, too. I guess misery loves company and it flourished from there. I hope you bond with someone, too, because it makes things so much easier.

I had a work Bestie it was a kind where we could not be by each other during meetings and then we had remote meetings and the phone would be dinging nonstop during the remote meetings and I’m like you need to put your phone on silence because the boss knows that we’re Texting each other During the meeting We literally were inseparable at work and he knew whatever he told her she told me and vice versa
It was just nice having another female and an all male environment Sadly she left we still talk every day it’s just not as much fun because she doesn’t work there anymore but I did make a new friend And she’s been there for me when I needed help in my personal life and that’s to me is invaluable

I have one work friend I made at one of my first jobs and we still talk we’ve never met she lives on one side of the country I live on the other and we have been friends for over 40 years
