Hillary Supporters unite part 2; no bashing please

I had told myself a few weeks ago that I would never post over here because I didn't like how certain posters were treating OS. I sure wish I never did today because we're not ready for togetherness yet....I will stick to the Obama thread and wait till the day the "Democrats United for Victory in November":goodvibes pops up......until then sorry if I ruffled any feathers with what I posted.:sad2:

I would just like to respectfully point out that many of the same folks who are saying he is "unelectable" also could not have imagined Obama doing so well in the primaries....

I do not believe he is unelectable...

I can understand if you all do not want to think about supporting obama just yet...or even admit to being able to support him...
but I hope for the sake of our country you will try and rethink your opinions of him with fresh ears and eyes....if he succeed and becomes the nominee....[/

I don't think this is shoving him at you....
i even said if he becomes a nominee!!

I understand how you feel...I did some soul searching to see if I could support hillary if she won the nom! I decided I would do just what I ask you all to do above rethink it when the time comes....

Sorry if the conversation was seen as invading your thread and the "olive branches" as whipping sticks......

If/When Hillary steps down you (Obama supporters) NEED to step back and let us Hillary supporters come to terms with anything. We do not need a push, OK? Pushing Obama on us too soon we turn us off. Obama NEEDS us Hillary supporters to win in November so be gentle to us ;)

Brava!!!

Hee hee. I made it big and blue so everyone would see it! For those of you who were around when Bush won last time take a moment to recall how nasty some of the Republican posters were to us. All we wanted was a place for us to lick our wounds and come to terms with our loss and some Republicans wouldn't allow it. They came into the Democratic thread and DANCED ON OUR GRAVE. Well, I have faith that Karma will bite them in the butt this year, but in order for us to get to that point Obama supporters need to gentle with us. We'll be able to put our chins up and find a new pair of big girl panties (and big boy briefs ... oh hell ... THONGS for EVERYONE!) but I don't think it will be right away. Just give us time.

Jacksonsmom:

I agree with you and said that on the Obama thread earlier. I think she has fought hard and done very well and she needs to wait until she is ready to drop out or not drop out and wait until the convention where it is decided. If the tables were turned I would be pissed off if people were telling Obama to drop out. Would I like to see her drop out to make it easier for Obama to win the general? Of course, but I still don't think that should that she be pushed out by the OS.

I am glad someone understands what I was trying to say.

So all I ask is just give us time and step back. Most of us will probably go over to Obama in November, if need be, just be patient and let us heal from a long, hard fight.

Taking a study break and wanted to comment on this. I agree!:thumbsup2
I am pretty certain I will vote for Obama if he becomes the nom. Hillary is still in the race as of today, so we still want to support our candidate. Things do seem a little bleak, hence my post previous about feeling blue, but she's really still in this thing and I would love to ride the rest out behind her. I'm sure the OS would do the same if the tables were turned.

Some of you even mentioned not voting for Hillary at all even if the #'s were on her side. I don't understand how some of you can't grasp it being the other way around.

IF Senator Clinton decides she wants to drop out or things don't go her way at the convention, then I agree that we'll need time to heal as HCS. We'll need to cry:sad1: in our cocktails. :drinking1 together as a group. Then maybe we'll see things differently and from a fresh perspective. Well...maybe not the morning after the cocktails. ;)

Also accept that there's some that won't vote or change their minds and that's o.k. too. Just be kind. You'll get more with honey than with vinegar.

I am glad someone understands what I was trying to say.

Definitely do. I may be an Obama supporter, but I'm an American first and a democrat second, and all I want is what's best for the country.

We will definitely all dance together when the Democrats take the WH in November! :)

I never said you, as in actually you, I was talking about Obama supporters in general.

The new motto of the Democratic party! :thumbsup2

Uh-oh! I don't do thongs. Does that mean I'm kicked out of the party? ;)

I agree that we all need to try to play nice. I'll try to forget everything that hurt my feelings in the past, but it's not easy. Some things have been said to me directly on this board that were very hurtful. NOT about my candidate, but about me. And not even on the Obama thread...I'm talking about on the Liberal thread. I can forgive, but sometimes it's hard to forget. And I have to say that those things that the OS said to me probably changed the way I see their candidate, to a certain extent. It definitely has colored the way I feel about certain members of the DIS. Are there things about Obama I wouldn't have liked if the OS had been sweet to me? Yes. But it doesn't help build good feelings when you are attacked.

And don't even say it never happened...that you attack Hillary and not followers. It's not true. At least most of the things said on this thread were about "some" OS. I'm talking about saying things about individuals. And the only people who said they were sorry for what was said to me, were Hillary people...which makes me think most of the OS thought it was okay or didn't care.

But please excuse the HS if we're not ready to join the Obama bandwagon just yet. I'm not giving up until Hillary does. I didn't back her this far to drop her at this point in the game. In our shoes, I doubt that any OS would either.

Yeah, it might be better for the party if we all joined together behind Obama. But then I still think we'd be much better off in November if we all joined behind Hillary. You can think that's irrational, but it is the way I feel.

And sorry for dredging up old stuff. I know we aren't supposed to, but I was careful not to post specifics on purpose. This is my way of getting it off my chest so maybe I can let go. I'll promise to try to come around when the time comes. I'll keep trying to play nice. Just don't push me right now, okay?

And I want to say I'm sorry, in case I ever posted anything hurtful. I really mean that. Anyone who knows me would tell you that's not my style. I am not someone who goes around trying to step on people's toes...even if I don't agree with them.

It is really hard to accept Hillary as common when she is able to loan her campaign $11.4 MILLION Dollars! She continues to paint Bush as only supporting the rich, what do you consider the Clintons with all of the new wealth they are reporting? She cannot win and is only giving the republican party free research with all of the attacks she has launched.

That's the olive branch i was looking for. Save me a place next to the campfire when y'all start singing "Kumbaya". :)

I thought this may lift some spirits around here:

RE: Tie-Breaker

In April, Barack Obama called Indiana a `tie-breaker' for the Democratic nominating process: "You know, Sen. Clinton is more favored in Pennsylvania and I'm right now a little more favored in North Carolina, so Indiana right now may end up being the tiebreaker. So we want to work very hard in Indiana ."

At the time, Senator Obama's comments seemed to be part of an elaborate plan to lower expectations for the Indiana contest. After all, roughly 20% of Indiana Democratic primary voters have been exposed to Senator Obama for years because they live within the Chicago media market. He's never lost a state that borders his home-state of Illinois .

The fact that Indiana was an open primary - Republicans and independents can vote in the Democratic contest - also augured well for Senator Obama. He has regularly argued that he should be nominated because he "appeal to Republicans and Independents in a way that none of the other nominees can."

Throw in the fact that Senator Obama outspent the Clinton campaign by a 2 to 1 margin on Indiana television and Indiana seems to be more of a lean-Obama state than a toss-up.
So Hillary's victory in Indiana - fought out against the backdrop of an ailing economy - is all the more incredible. We started out behind in both the public and internal polls.

For example, our March 13 poll showed Hillary trailing by 8 points, while our latest poll gave Hillary a 5 point lead.

We saw Hillary Clinton's margin flip from -19 points among men in Indiana back in March to +1 among men in our final poll. Among women, Hillary's margin increased from +1 in March to +8 now.

Similarly, in mid-February, the Howey-Gauge poll had Barack Obama 15 points ahead of Hillary Clinton (Feb 16-17: Obama 40 / HRC 25). By April 23-24, Hillary had narrowed the gap to only 2 points in the same poll (Obama 47 / HRC 45). The late momentum was critical - according to the exit poll, Hillary won by 18 points among those who made their decision in the last three days.

Hillary won by appealing to voters in almost every key demographic group. According to the exit poll, Hillary won among men and among women, in northern, central and southern parts of the state, among those who earn more than $50,000 per year and those who earn less, union voters and non-union voters, suburban and rural voters, churchgoers, gun-owners, and those who have not graduated from college.

Hillary also won among those who say the economy is the most important issue, those who are affected by the recession, those who say health care is most important, electability and experience voters. Hillary also led Obama on commander-in-chief.

What drove Hillary's strong support - especially among downscale voters, suburban and rural voters, churchgoers, gun-owners and those who are affected by the recession?

- Gas tax summer holiday - making oil companies pay the gas tax instead of American families through a tax on oil company windfall profits

- Tough stance on NAFTA and other trade issues

- The only candidate - Democrat or Republican - with a health care plan that covers every American

- Support for cutting middle-class taxes

--------------------------------

She seems far from even thinking of giving up, and I'm with her until the end!

Thank you! I'm getting ready to go to my final and it was great to read that before I head off. I also watched her talks in WVa on MSNBC and it brought my spirits up and the reason why I stand behind her came to the surface again! She hasn't lost! There's quite a few undecided SD left and some want to wait until June to figure out who's more electable. I think it's smart to let everyone vote til the end for who they think is worthy.

I think Hillary Clinton is more electable in the GE against McCain. It looks like Indiana doesn't think Obama is that Hot out in Chicago after all.

Is it safe to come out? Have the OS all gone to trash Hillary on other threads? ;)

I am very upset about the outcome, but I hope that Hillary keeps running 'till the very end AND makes a scene at the Convention if Obama still does not have enough delegates to win. pirate:

I really don't understand how possibly some of you would go to the McCain Camp if Hillary doesn't get the nom or vice versa. It is about change. And as far as Carter being a no nothing president I guess you must not remember the peace talks between Sadat and Israel

And what will take their place?

No, I don't think there is another party waiting in the wings to take over (like the Republicans did in the 1860s). We are stuck with the two we have for now.:headache:

I know, I was kinda looking around before I came back. All clear!...(as I put my head in the door to see if it's OS free).

ITA!!! Hillary shouldn't stop because there is no candidate that has the delegates they need. I heard on CNN on the way home from my final that the Clinton campaign came up with the math to prove they can still do it, but I pulled into the garage before I could hear what it was. At this point, I don't care about the #'s, I just want to raise some double sticks with a H and a e to go in front. :woohoo: :woohoo:

The LIME party...hmmmm... That would be interesting...
