Hillary Supporters unite part 2; no bashing please

No, THAT IS THE TRUTH. It was called Amendment One and had to do with the portability of Save Our Homes.

http://www.nbc15online.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=5df5f26c-cc9c-4c8a-b778-f921633eaf2c

I know that Floridians went to the polls that day to vote for the homestead act. BUT not everybody in Florida is a homeowner either.
So when Obama supporters says Hillary only won because of this is ludachris.
No matter what the reason was ...SHE STILL HAD MORE VOTES. Whether anybody wants to count them, or half count them. MORE people went to the voting booth and clicked on her name. We dont count reasons behind the votes in this country. We just count the votes.

That was a compromise reached by the MI Democratic party and in no way shape or form made any difference to the fact the Hillary LOST. Did you get that: Hillary LOST.]

Duh I know Hillary lost.

But who the heck is the MI Democratic party to tell a MI Democratic voter that the vote they cast for Hillary or Edwards or Richardson will now go to Obama?

If Obama had never been given those votes, Hillary would've LOST. Those votes made no difference. What part of that can't you understand?
The part where they DID THIS. WHY???? Why would the DNC steal votes from her and others 7 give them to Obama, Knowing it would not make a difference?
They did it to PO everybody and say, "we dont care what anybody says, we are gonna shove Obama down your throats wheter you like it or not!"
And that is what they did!

As a matter of fact, I didn't click on Obama's name. I clicked on Kucinich's name. I personally know of 3 people who went in to vote solely for Amendment One and didn't bother making a primary selection because they knew it wouldn't count.

But, honestly, what is your point? The Florida Democratic party was told their delegates would not be seated if the primary was held early. Hillary's advisor, Harold Ickes, voted for not seating the Florida delegation. Hillary was fine and dandy with it until she realized she needed the votes.

You may be entitled to your opinion, but you are NOT entitled to your own facts.

This entire discussion is moot. It is over. Hillary LOST. No matter what gyrations you go through, that will not change.

But if it wasnt going to count why did you vote for Kucinich?:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I apologize that I do not know how to use the partial quote feature of DIS, which left out my posts that you had quoted.

You read my post wrong. I did not say Hillary should give delegates to Obama -- you are right that she did not have that power. I said "offer." That is different. It would have been an olive branch, even if it had no teeth behind it. And then the party could have fought over the specifics. I think (opinion, not fact) that such a position by Hillary would have lowered the temperature of the MI debate a bit..
Ok I will offer you 5 million dollars from LuvDukes bank account, and a peice of real estate from the Moon!

Isnt that NICE of me!:smokin: I have stole from one person to give too you!
I say keep your 'olive branch"

And then your "just to naive Obama supporters" comment is inaccurate. I was not an OS until late Tuesday night. Technically, I am just a "Presumptive Nominee Supporter." But I still thought at the time (opinion, not fact) that the party was asking for trouble if they would take a big state like MI and assign zero delegates to a top candidate like Obama. Especially when the candidates had agreed ahead of time that MI would be penalized.

The candidates DID not agree ahead of time to penalize anyone.

The DNC did, and they told the candidates that if they dont sign onto this they cannot run for President.

What is everyone fighting about now? I miss so much!

Hillary said that she would throw her support to Obama this Saturday. Did she change her mind and I never heard?

I have an African American friend (woman) who is voting for McCain - as she can't stand Obama. I asked her how could she vote against the party - and she replied - I vote for the person - not the party.

Just wanted to state - there are people out there who do that......

I read somewhere that like 75% of the voters do just this! Only 25% vote party lines.

There are some doozy rumors about this tape on the net. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

However, what makes me go HMMMMMMMMMMMMM ???????

I HIGHLY doubt that a video like that was on the trinity website until March of this year, and nobody saw it....Especially after the Rev scandal broke.

IF it excists, then we will see it sooner rather than later. But I say it dont excist.

:rotfl2: see what happens when you come in so late....

seems that OS are still hung up on the looser...instead of there winner. some OS seem to think that now that Hilary is out of the race we should all have nothing more to dicuss and this thread should go poof....

But as I have explained Hillary is gone and she was there problem....Obama is still in so our problem still exists until we work through it one way or another. This thread will continue on till after the election unless we all turn to Obama or McCain and go into there threads.

Seems that since she is no longer running all of our feelings should have stopped the minuet Obama claimed Victory...just like Hillary should have conceded and gave all her delegates and votes to Obama and backed him 100% that night...that moment...that minute....that second

After all we are all democrats......

I won't quit talking about Hillary just because she plans to concede and throw her support to Obama. I still like her so why would I stop just yet? Besides, she's hardly a threat now.

I don't get it.

Me thinks the holding out till Saturday for her to "officially" concede has all the OS a bit edgy!:lmao:

Or is she waiting for 'THE TAPE' to be released!

You are not alone....... Though - Hillary on the ticket would make it a slam dunk for me! C'mon people - 1st Woman VP? It would be AWESOME!!!!

We take these contests much more seriously the these pols do. Its another day for them. Heck half of those senators and congresspeople are best friends when they aren't stabbing each other in the back!

That is the truth. There is even a private bipartisan club in DC where they can go and mingle with one another and no reporters are allowed. This way they can make their deals and orchestrate their shows for the public. It is a whole culture to itself. It really is not personal to most of them, just like lawyers..which many of them are anyway.

Clinton Sneaks Out to Meet Obama in Washington

ABC News' Kate Snow Reports: Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton held a secret meeting Thursday evening in Washington, DC.

According to a well-placed Democratic source, the meeting was held at the Washington home of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., an early Clinton supporter who lately has been advocating for a joint Obama-Clinton ticket.

After their meeting the Obama and Clinton campaigns released a joint statement: "Senator Clinton and Senator Obama met tonight and had a productive discussion about the important work that needs to be done to succeed in November."

Shortly after 10 p.m., a van sped quickly into the side gate of Clinton's home, Whitehaven. It was unclear who was inside. Sen. Clinton has been invisible to the press corps gathered outside her home all day. To attend the meeting at Feinstein's home, she would have had to slip unnoticed past a half-dozen cameras.

I just want to reiterate - there are people out there who don't always vote party line.

I am one of those people. I voted for George W Bush in 2000. It was my first time to vote. My parents are Republican; I thought I was a Republican. I voted for Bush because he was the Republican candidate. Then I realized, just because he's 'your' party's candidate doesn't mean that he's going to do a good job as POTUS. That's when I decided that I'm voting for who I think will make the best President rather than for a specific party.

To me, the best person for President is the person who wants the same things for this country as I do. No person espousing the Republican party platform can ever be that best person for me. That doesn't automatically mean that I will vote for any Democratic candidate but it does mean I will not vote for any Republican candidate unless they are pro-choice, pro health care reform and anti-war.

So, I 'm not doubting that there are people who vote for the best person or saying that there is anything wrong with that, but voting for "your" party's candidate can also be voting for the best person.

In other words, what the candidate's values are in regards to what they want for this country is a huuuuuuge part of what makes them the best person for President IMO.

My prediction? As soon as the Senate has a larger majority of Dems - Lieberman will either move over to the Republican side of the aisle - or kicked out involuntarily by the dems......

Lieberman launches grassroots organization
Posted: 03:20 PM ET

Lieberman launched a grassroots organization Thursday to appeal to Clinton's supporters.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Sen. Joe Lieberman – who has taken on increasingly high-profile campaign roles on behalf of presumptive Republican nominee John McCain – announced Thursday that was launching and heading a new grassroots organization, "Citizens for McCain," with a direct appeal to Hillary Clinton’s disappointed supporters.

“The phones at the campaign headquarters have been ringing with disaffected Democrats calling to say they believe Senator McCain has the experience, judgment, and bipartisanship necessary to lead our country in these difficult times,” Lieberman wrote in a message sent to the Arizona senator’s supporters. “Many of these supporters are former supporters of Senator Clinton.”

Over the past few weeks, some supporters of Hillary Clinton – whose campaign announced Wednesday that she would be suspending her presidential run this weekend — have said that they would consider voting for McCain if she were not the Democratic nominee.

Lieberman highlighted McCain’s “very good working relationship with Senator Clinton” – which he said would continue in the future – and his comments praising her in a speech at a Louisiana campaign event Wednesday.

"Senator Clinton has earned great respect for her tenacity and courage. The media often overlooked how compassionately she spoke to the concerns and dreams of millions of Americans, and she deserves a lot more appreciation than she sometimes received,” said McCain. “As the father of three daughters, I owe her a debt for inspiring millions of women to believe there is no opportunity in this great country beyond their reach. I am proud to call her my friend."

He called on supporters to “reach out to Americans who are not currently involved in the campaign.

“Will you help us by recruiting your friends, family, and co-workers who may not consider themselves members of the Republican Party and ask them to join the Citizens for McCain organization?” wrote Lieberman.

“I am confident we will find many Democrats and Independents who, like John McCain and me, put country before political party and will support a leader with a real record of bipartisanship…. Together, we will make history.”
On Wednesday — the first day of the general election campaign – the very first Republican conference call attacking presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama featured Lieberman.

Lieberman, has been increasingly critical of Obama. The Democrat-turned-independent has been a strong supporter of President Bush's Middle East and Iraq policies.

Obama endorsed Lieberman in his 2006 Democratic primary battle against challenger Ned Lamont. But after the Connecticut senator lost and decided to run as an independent, Obama switched his support to Lamont, who shared his opposition to the Iraq war.

Interesting blog entry from Talking Points Memo:

Reid Claims To Have Talked To Lieberman About Attacking Obama
By Greg Sargent - June 5, 2008, 2:18PM

Inquiring minds want to know if there is anything at all that Joe Lieberman could say about the Democratic presidential nominee that would get Harry Reid to tap the Connecticut Senator on the shoulder and say, "Psst -- hey bud, you enjoy your senior committee slots at my pleasure, so watch it."

It's a question that many Democrats are asking right now, in the wake of Lieberman's aggressive foreign policy attacks on Barack Obama yesterday. Even Obama himself took Lieberman aside and privately rebuked him yesterday.

Now Reid himself has been asked about this, and he told reporters that, yes, he has given Lieberman a talking-to of sorts...

"I've had conversations with Lieberman at some length. I'm not going to discuss the conversations here. But I think the discussions he had with Obama yesterday and the discussions he had with me yesterday were fruitful. We'll let the future decide what it's going to be, but I'm not about to threaten anybody."

"Fruitful," huh? Anyone who thinks Reid will put any kind of pressure on Lieberman behind the scenes is just kidding himself. It isn't going to happen, and Lieberman will continue to attack Obama -- and soon enough will start portraying him as too weak to defend the country -- secure in the knowledge that the only thing that will happen to him is that he'll get more press attention for it.

Well now a lot of things become obvious.

http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/06/breaking_howard_dean_to_stay_a.php

"Senator Obama appreciates the hard work that Chairman Dean has done to grow our party at the grassroots level and looks forward to working with him as the chairman of the Democratic Party as we go forward."

Historically, a DNC chair's tenure is uncertain once a nominee is chosen, since said nominee might want to install his own guy there, but as Ben Smith notes, Dean has a power base built up among state party chairs across the country who love his 50-state strategy of investing in them.

The DNC earlier today confirmed that Obama had installed his man Paul Tewes to serve as his eyes and ears at the organization, a sign that Obama is moving quickly to re-shape the party in his own image. Obama's party, it turns out, will include Dean at the top of the DNC.

So that was what that was about. I heard one report that Obama nearly had Joe pinned against the wall. They had video but I could not see that part. You did see the two of them going off together.

Funny - I'll have to be on the lookout for that!!!!

Obama has also had words with McCain in the past too - should be an interesting campaign.....
