I know who they are.... but i did not know enough about them.... ( and one has been a senator in the past and is VERY well known!)

It really is silly and kind of sour grapes to keep poking at obama...

Read his platform....read mccains.... read any independants ...and vote for who you choose to....

I believe that the Senator who came from nowhere to defeat the clinton "machine" will be able to win in november.....
HIs campaign is not in debt and he convinced the supers he is electable.....and he won the majority of the delegates according to DNC rules

He also got the DNC to agree to not accept $$ from lobbyests today.....:thumbsup2

You mean like the OS are being silly with sour grapes and still poking at hillary who is no longer even in the race :confused3 know thats kinda silly....

no sour grapes..... just responding to continuing claims of hillarys success....

and more michigan/florida....nonsense....

folks over here are the ones who don't seem to know its over....

You wrote it!!!!!!!!!

How then can votes be counted sometimes & Not others? When it is in favor of your candidate?

Wow, you are living in a world significantly removed from reality.

You truncated my sentence, which changed its meaning, and then you want to compare it to a context (the general election, in which every candidate was listed in every state) that is completely different.

Basic civics lesson: The party primaries are not covered by the Constitutional right to vote, which only applies to general elections. The Democratic Party is a private institution that sets its own rules about voting to select a nominee. The SD system is the system that it chose, for better or worse.

And here is where you are the furthest from reality: Obama is not my candidate. I am a DS, not an OS or HS. I spent more time browsing here because it was "livelier," for lack of a better term. I want to see the Dems win in November. It is too late to change the fact that Obama is that person. If you want to cling to the illusion that all of Hillary's MI votes should count but Obama should have zero, you are not doing the party any favors.

Is that what you are trying to do? Torpedo Obama's chances in November? If so, then the HS thread may not be the place for Democrats to hang out.

I think you hit the nail on the head!
I think the tombstone in disuncs siggie lets you know where he stands....

no sour grapes..... just responding to continuing claims of hillarys success....

and more michigan/florida....nonsense....

folks over here are the ones who don't seem to know its over....

But see that's where some OS are missing the point....Obama is still in the race....so yes we will still be discussing him till the end....Hillary is gone so soon I am sure the OS will turn there sights off of Hillary and on to McCain...We also will turn our sights off of Hillary but continue on with our feelings about the 2 candidates left.

but we will still be discussing Obama and may not be in a positive way...::yes::

Oops. Sorry DISUNC. When you accused me of being a Republican, I assumed you were a Democrat.

I feel bad for Hillary. I can't say I ever really actively supported her, I just assumed all along that it was inevitable that she would be the candidate. I knew she was going to be the candidate like I knew it would be hot during the summer. So I was going to focus my interest on the general election.

But now somebody else is the nominee. I feel bad for Hillary, but now the facts on the ground are different. Do we really want another Republican administration?

That was rude.... he more than likely would rather be on the 'M' mccain or
'c' conservative thread......

those are the real clinton haters....or did you begin to believe them when they were being nicey nicey to you HS during the primaries????

The "real" Clinton haters? as opposed to the "fake" Clinton haters who have been spewing venom against them throghout this thread?

/
It makes perfect sense...
I just voted in a primary and did not vote for any candidate for senator....because I had not researched the candidates...

since they were not campaigning in Florida...I could easily see folks not vote for the same reason....

However people in FL DID vote for a candidate, and Hillary won!

That is all "obama spin", which is not holding up well with Fl Democrats.

We will never really know of ANY election ever, what the outcomes would have been, "if that" happened. "If this" happened...."iF MY UNCLE DIDNT MARRY MY AUNT I WOULDNT HAVE A COUSIN" scenarios etc.
We dont even know if FL voters were compelled to vote because of the Homestead act.

THE FACT IS We do know that 870,986 Democrats voted for Hillary that day!!!!!! No matter how it is sliced , diced, argued or foolishly interpeted.........the Fl Democrats voted for HER!

FACT:

I'm registered as independent/uncommited, as is my husband. Therefore, the FACT remains that there were two votes that could've swung in any of the 3 or more directions but because of FL's closed primary rules, we could not vote in the presidential process. As to why we didn't vote at all, it's because we already knew the homestead exemption increase was going to pass, so why bother if we couldn't vote in the primary.

Having said that, calling what I said "Obama spin" isn't a FACT from where I'm sitting. We were fairly undecided until after Super Tuesday, well after the FL primary had come & gone.

So, next time, make sure you have all of your FACTS at hand before assuming, eh?

No sour grapes. You guys are continuing this conversation. I'm just responding on the Hillary thread.

Word for word taken right from the Obama handbook!:rolleyes1

It really is silly and kind of sour grapes to keep poking at obama...
Yet you have NOOOOOOOOO problem doing that too Clinton! Can you see the hypocrisy in what you say.

Read his platform....read mccains.... read any independants ...and vote for who you choose to.......
:thumbsup2 But be prepared to back up what you say.

As if Obama is running without a "machine"! No he will not win in November.
I have no idea why the SD's went with him, other then they can control him.

Not ONE SD said they went with Obama based on his previous record. They all "beileve & hope"...BUT not one of them KNOWS!

NO he did NOT win the majority of the Delagates according to the DNC rules. The DNC rules committe decided last week to "throw out" the rules for this "special' occasion. Thats when they handed Obama the extra "uncommited" votes in MI, and took away 4 of Hillary's delgates , for no apparant reason and gave them to Obama.:furious:

He also got the DNC to agree to not accept $$ from lobbyests today.....:thumbsup2
Why would you think this is a good thing????
Do you realise that there are many many MANY GOOD Lobby's? Despite what Obama tells you, there are.

Do you realise that Obama has up until now taken $ from Pac's & Lobbiest? And some for his own personal gain?
Like Rezcos company who gave Obama a $300k break on his house. Do you think for one second that the slumlord that Obama has had many dealings with, did that out of the kindness of his heart?

Do you realise that the odds are that you belong to a Lobby??? AAA, AARP???

A good Lobby group for example, AAA is a lobby group that does some wonderful things and supports the American the American Motorist. If they are not allowed to offer incentives (which are perfectly legal), to Law makers, they might just fold up. Along with their WDW Discounts.

There are also many great Cancer Patient, Education, Child Welfare, Elderly ( ...etc) lobby's that give collective American voices to congress on behalf of the the American people.

Obama is throwing the Baby out with the Bath water here. Too simply state that everyone should ignore $ from Lobbiest is so flippant naive, and quite stupid.

I equivilate this with Regans Union busting. Not all Unions were bad back then either. This has attributed to the current "globalization" and American jobs loss today.

God knows what horrors would come about with the good lobby's. Americans will loose their collective voice.:furious: :furious: :furious:

Lest we forget, Florida voters alse went to the poll because there was a vote on a constitutional amendment for one of the biggest tax changes in Florida. That always seems to get lost. .
Thats what you & OTHER OS SAY. THAT IS NOT THE TRUTH.

The fact is we have no way of knowing what would've happened in FL or in MI. To lay claim to either vote is either delusional or dishonest. At this point, I vote for both.

However the DNC KNEW the uncommitted in MI was for Obama?????????:confused3

Not ONE SD said they went with Obama based on his previous record. They all "beileve & hope"...BUT not one of them KNOWS!

Has anybody heard why the SD's started moving toward Obama this spring?

Was it because of something they thought they saw in him, was it a move away from Hillary for some reason?

Does anybody know?

I haven't had much to say the last few days. I was afraid this was going to happen...just didn't want to admit it. As I type this, I am heartsick. This is not sour grapes...it's a great disappointment.

I'm honestly not sure what I'm going to do. And please don't hit me with all the guilt. I'm VERY aware of what's at stake. I have a son that's turning 21 this month and I don't want him to get caught up in a war that I don't even believe in. I come from a family of Democrats. We go way back. I probably could have told you I was a Democrat when I was a toddler. I count myself among the people in our country who can claim to be family of a past president. But the DNC isn't what it used to be. I'm disappointed in my party, but don't know where to turn.

I'm just not sure I can get behind Obama. Once again, something is coming out that at the very least shows his complete lack of judgement, if not much worse. I'm deeply concerned about him. He has tons of baggage and a terrible memory. It all sounds very much like crooked politics, as usual. And he's selling himself as change? I don't think so. He can deliver a winning speech, but can he lead? We need a strong leader right now. I just don't see that he's it.

I can't vote for McCain. I disagree with too much that he stands for, although I don't particularly dislike the man. He even says he doesn't have a clue about the economy...and his view on the war is scary. Personally, I think he's too old. Anyone voting for him better look carefully at his VP. That person may well take office. And when he kept forgetting things on his trip to the middle east, I got really concerned. I wonder if he's even capable of the job?

For the first time in my life, this life-long Democrat may stay home and not vote unless Obama can win me over. I really hope he can. And before some OS starts in on me, don't bother. Having you preach at me isn't going to change things. Hearing Hillary say that it's what I need to do isn't going to change things. Even putting Hillary in the #2 spot won't necessarily win me over, but it wouldn't hurt.

Only Obama can do what needs to be done. He needs to show me what he's made of. I'll be watching carefully between now and November. I hope I start to see a different side of him between now and then.

You are not alone....... Though - Hillary on the ticket would make it a slam dunk for me! C'mon people - 1st Woman VP? It would be AWESOME!!!!

We take these contests much more seriously the these pols do. Its another day for them. Heck half of those senators and congresspeople are best friends when they aren't stabbing each other in the back!

I did ..because the electoral college is our system for electing the president.....

Really????????????????

They ended up getting half credit, which is 50% more than Hillary agreed to give them at the beginning of this process.

And St. Obama did not excatly turn down his 50% of somebody elses votes did he or the 4 Hillary won fair & square delegates?

Oh, and DISUNC, since you're around - I have another article to follow-up that first article that I sent to you. Did you have a chance to read it yet? Since these people were brought up on this thread a few pages ago, I'll just post this here:
(I think that this is just the tip of the iceburg of what the GOP can get ahold of on this man)

http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/0...-and-it-links-you-to-bill-ayers-in-the-1980s/

I will later...sloooooooooooooooooooooooow night at work...so I got lots to read and MUCH time to argue with everybody who says "silly" things tonight!:thumbsup2

That's been my question. People just went to vote for something else and skipped over the presidential candidate part on the ballot?
Doesn’t make sense to me. Even if I didn’t think my vote would ‘count’ if I’m already there I’d still mark it along with everything else I was voting for that day.

:thumbsup2
LUVDUKE, You live in in Florida? Correct? Did you go vote that day just for the HOMESTEAD act and NOT click on Obamas name???????????????

It makes perfect sense...
I just voted in a primary and did not vote for any candidate for senator....because I had not researched the candidates...

since they were not campaigning in Florida...I could easily see folks not vote for the same reason....
So you are saying that in the 3rd Millienium, in the year 2008...That the ONLY way you "know" a candidate is by meeting them at a Whistle Stop???

The internet with all its vastness, the Television with all its pundits, its 24x7 news stations, billions of hours of radio on any given day, and TV COMMERCIALS, and Newspapers play absolutely NO part in providing you with any information on voting for a candidate??????????

Then again I do find it highly plausabile that a Obama supporter does not do any research on the candidates! :rolleyes1

Read his platform....read mccains.... read any independants ...and vote for who you choose to....

BTW I read ALL the candidates platforms....Thats why I choose Hillary.

Obama dont even have a platform. He has SLOGANS & MANTRA! But there is absolutely NO substance to any of his Slogans & Mantra!

Obama belongs on Madison Aveune designing Advertising Campaigns for Corporations, he does not even come close to being qualified for President.

And St. Obama did not excatly turn down his 50% of somebody elses votes did he or the 4 Hillary won fair & square delegates?

I wasn't responding to a comment about Obama's reaction to MI. So, again, you are taking my comments out of context. If Hillary was the presumptive nominee and OS were bashing her about something like this, my comments would have been reversed. It's all about Dems winning in November.

And "fair and square" is debatable in MI, where Hillary was the only name on the ballot. She could have taken the high road and offered all of the "uncommitted" delegates to Obama. But she didn't -- she wanted zero for him. That was not a good strategic move. It made her look petty. But I understand she was trying anything to stay alive in the race. She is a politician, and they are not always at their best when the door is closing.

OK DISUNC and JARNJ3, you guys have a great night. I'm off to bed. My employers actually expect me to stay awake and do work when I'm at work. :rolleyes1 So off to bed I go so I can stay awake tomorrow. Goodnight.

You have your facts all wrong! Whatever I bolded is wrong!

And i posted your whole post this time! So you cant say (just like a Obama supporter) that i quoted you out of context.
