You must be exhuasted having run around to meet them all.

I like Clinton. I like her alot, and I think she'd be a fine President. That said, I though the same things about Chris Dodd and Joe Biden (the latter was my first choice).

I don't worship Obama, I am not blind to his imperfections, I am very well educated and have indeed examined the issues, and I haven't had an kool-aid since Richard Nioxon was President. That said, did vote for him.

I can't imagine that slamming his supporters does her any good. In fact it probably only helps McCain.

As fas as I can see there has been a fair amount of teetch gnashing on both sides, and I can't say I know where it startyed or even if that should make a difference among reasonable people.

Oh for cripes sake! Once again - I never said I spoke to ALL Obama supporters. Is this clear enough for you all ...MANY, but NOT all of the Obama-ites that I have come across IRL, here on DIS and on 3 other boards that I post on have caused me to come to this conclusion.

And the more denial there is against the whole "Obama worship" the more it highlights it. It is not just Hillary supporters that have noticed it. It was showcased on SNL for crying out loud and they are pretty good at calling out everyone. This was kind of my whole point and maybe I didn't state it as well as I could have - but the more you Obama people come on here - it just confirms my opinion.

I agree voting for what we believe in is important. Maybe if I was still in my 20's I would feel differently...I dont know. But being 50 and have gone through this before I have become a bit cynical towards the whole thing.

As I tell DH ....I may be a cynic, but I'm a fairly knowledgeable political cynic at that. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD...I know Hillary won the following

California - Semi-Closed; only D and I can vote
New York - Closed
Mass - Semi-Closed; only D and I can vote
NJ - Semi-Closed; only D and I
Florida - Closed *this is being fought
Hillary won all of those in the list I put up. I'm do Obama's list tomorrow.

In any case - in the midst of all this talk of hope - I have this grinding fear that the American public will again make a very unwise choice for our country.
I still fear a backlash. I hear more and more about how annoyed some people are getting with the Obama thing. What's to keep some people from voting against him and for that other guy? :headache:

Some of his fans are awfully defensive though aren't they? Not that I totally blame them because they do seem to all be lumped together as zealots by some people. Some are, some aren't IMO.

So I had lunch today with some coworkers (a mini focus group) - I think all voted for Hillary.

Makeup:

2 White Women
1 White Man
2 Black Women (they prefer Black over African American)

The general consensus was - America is not voting for a Black man or a White women for president - and McCain will win in the end..........

It was also thought that sexism was worse than racism - and that Hillary would not get the nom because she's a woman.

I felt that the combined ticket - Obama\Clinton or Clinton\Obama would prevail and beat McCain - but I was outvoted.........

It was fun seeing Hillary last night. Saw Bill a couple of weeks ago. The closest the Obama campaign has come to SE Ohio was Michelle in Athens today. I think the fact that they are paying attention to our corner of the state will help the Hillary campaign.
All of them are all over Texas lately. In fact, Hillary will be doing her thing at an Irish Festival in Dallas this Saturday. :thumbsup2

Actually, on this board anyway, they have all suddenly fell in love with Hillary.
Go figure.:confused3

Maybe its one of those "You dont know what you got till it's gone' scenarios!;)

.......

I agree with this very much so!:headache: You cant even get people to say that "sexism" excists"!:sad2:

I'll say it...sexism exists, sexism exists, sexism exists....

Talk about the media...the mayor of our town was caught drunk laying down on the side walk about 1 block from his house. He lives down the street from me up on a mountain , no cars. So the police were called and he was taken home, about 10 houses down from his house.

Well someone on the council that does not like him reported this to the press and the TV and the next thing ya know it is splashed all over and the news paper and news stations ...and reads "Drunken La Mesa Mayor found sprawled out on sidewalk"

It was the day that his son had been killed 10 years ago and one of his friends came to town and they were sitting in a local pup drinking and they were talking for about 2 hrs and he got drunk on what was said to be about 6 beers...at least that was what the bartender said. The problem was he took a ride home from the friend but the friend was also drunk and had been there longer. Bartender should have called them a cab.

Our Mayer has been a great Mayor for 18 years and has done so much for our community....the police are getting yelled at for driving him home(as mentioned only a few houses away) instead of driving him to the brink for the night. Yet many police have done that for others. This council member has sent out terrible e-mails and phone calls to have him resign...she was a mayor wana be that has yet to get elected.

Anyway the media was all over it and made it sound as if our Mayor is a big Drunk that is worthless to our great city of LaMesa....what is up with the media :confused3

There was a televised council meeting ( they are always televised but this was a special one) and there were many there to support him and some that were just off the wall. One blew out the council member that went beyond the call of duty with her e-mails and she had a blow out..it was fun to watch her. She is not very well liked. She kept interrupting and wanted to make a motion on having on something so sh did and when asked for a second motion not one C. member motioned...they all just sat there looking at her...it was funny:rotfl2:

Bet the Mayor will never have a beer again...also he is not a drunk.

Looks like there's more to that story. The female city worker also seemd to be drunk and behind the wheel of the car, stopped on the roadway next to the mayor with the door open. Sounds like much more than 6 beers to make him vomit.

No reason to arrest the mayor, but the driver? Should have gone thorugh the standard field sobriety testing to be sure. That's what is questionable; no tests, just a ride home.

Yes she drove him home. the roadside that they stoped at was about 5 houses from me up on top of a mountain not traffic and about 10 houses way from his home. He is not known in LaMesa as a drinker and no one has ever seen him drunk. He is older and he stated because he is not a big drinker it did not take much for the beer to hit him.

I can understand that because if I have one glass of wine I am a goner. :rotfl2: Im 50 and get like that he is 73 years old....just think how 6 beers effects someone that age. The driver however is 35.
the driver is who should be being questioned and should have had a test. He was a passenger. The media was at the meeting and appoligized to Mayor Madrid for running with the story and going by the facts of the city council member that reported the incident and told them this inf. and as it turned out much of what was false.

They said they will put a appology on the news On the news they said he was driving and passed out on a local busy street on the side walk after a drunken stupper with a friend. Exaggerated on the facts. They said that they ran with the story because of the info comiong from one of his own council members but did not realize that the council has been having alot of trouble with her.

He is a local figure and should have known better. But when I do look back on all he has done and donated and what a great mayor he is and that is why he has been there for 18 years and 5 terms ...I smell a witch hunt from this woman.

It was not even so much of that he was drinking it was more of did he get special treatment. Even the MADD said that the police did the right thing....go figure :confused3
the driver is who should be being questioned and should have had a test. He was a passenger.
They both threw up from drinking so much.

9 times out of 10, a person (the driver) would be arrested in this situation. The driving can be inferred, it'd done all the time based on the facts. The laws are written so if you are in "control" of the vehicle, you can be arrested. From all of the articles, she was clearly in control.

And the inference is, right or wrong, that she wasn't arrested because of the political position of her drunk passenger, whom she was driving home.

It's not uncommon for politics to make strange bedfellows (the drunk mayor and MADD).

None of it means the police acted improperly, but it sure looks like it. The safe bet would have been to investigate the mayor's drinking partner for the OWI, at the risk of making him mad. Apparently, that wasn't done, not a risk they wanted to take.

So if I understand what you're saying... Hillary is leading with Dems, actual for sure Dems. Where as Obama's support is undetermined possibly a mixture of Dems, Ind, and (most troubling) Repubs?

The question then becomes are the Repubs voting for him to tinker with the election or because they genuinely believe in him and/or are tired of the current repubs.

That is the mystery question. Some will switch parties - some are mischief makers. This is supposed to be the democratic primary.

I can't see how they're going to turn a red state blue for Obama - but then again, I'm basically "hopeless." ;)

Perhaps, its because he has broader appeal than Hillary does.

As far as Republicans trying to spoil it - I think there are some, but my friend voted Hillary in VA even though he is a McCain supporter as he feels he can beat Hillary but not Obama.

I'll back away so you can go back to your Hillary supporters thread. :)

I love it! I thinks it's wonderful and it's exactly how I feel. Hillary answering the phone will make me feel better. Obama? less safe. McCAin - not at all.
