OK I am not sure why this happens.

I have been with a couple of very close friends in the last coupe weeks.

One of my friends is a very senior civil servant on the military side and the other is retired military.

Both are nice guys in general but their absolute hatred of Hillary is baffling! When I press them to justify their bitter (and I mean BITTER) feelings towards Hillary, they say something along the lines of "she's a liar".
I ask them to give me an example and they quickly change the conversation. No examples are EVER given.

The other interesting thing is that neither one of these guys think we need universal health care.

The civil servant pays $120 a month from his 6 figure salary and the retired military gets his health care through his military retirement.

They always snicker when I point out that tax dollars are what subsidize their health care. And then they say, "It's my choice, you have your choice. It's not my fault that your company has no health care benefits.

I truly do not understand their sophomoric attitudes.

Angelou Puts Prose to Hillary Clinton

Clinton was posed with an awkward comment from an audience member as she took questions Friday evening in Winston Salem, N.C. A woman stood up and said, “Hillary, I love you. I always have and I always will. I felt so sorry for you when Bill had his affair.”

The audience reacted with noise and chatter, while Clinton reached for her glass of water and took a big gulp. “I believe now that the best way to overcome it is to become president,” she said.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Angelou read a tribute at the conclusion of the rally that she had written for Clinton and said she wanted Clinton to think about this when the polls or people say one thing or another about her and ask her why she doesn’t give up. Angelou read, “You may write me down in history with your bitter twisted lies, you may tread me in the very dirt but still like dust, I’ll rise. This is not the first time you have seen Hillary Clinton seemingly at her wit’s end. But she is always risen, always risen. Don’t forget she has much to the dismay of her adversaries and to the delight of her friends risen.” Clinton gave Angelou a big hug after the prose and the meeting.

Maya Angelou is pure bliss.

I still remember her poem on Bill's inauguration day.......

There are people out there that truly hate the woman (and many are Obama supporters). I believe its because she had the audacity to not just attend all the teas and parties as First Lady.

I think she's getting biased coverage and criticism due to the fact of her gender. To my surprise (I guess I shouldn't really have been surprised) a few of the Obama supporters don't even see it.........

My contention is this election will be discussed years after (it is the first legitmate woman running for president) and all of the examples will be laid out which will clearly show it........

The Colbert Report was cut Thursday night. I loved Hillary's role! She's a real trouper when it comes to humor about herself. John Edwards was pretty funny too.
I got home just in time to see Edwards. He was hysterically funny. :thumbsup2

I still hope that he ends up in someone's Cabinet.

I hate to admit that I agree that her being a woman is a factor. Not the only one by any means but it does come up.

What continues to shock me is how many continually blame her for Bill's activities. This "blame the victim" mentality is so strange and something I thought we were past.

Anyone who does not see that there is a heaping helping of misogyny being passed around is blind or stupid.

As for why people view her negatively - it is because they have been told repeatedly that they should since 1992. How she has managed to come as far as she has with that kind of negative campaign against her (started by the republicans - now being carried on by fellow democrats) is just a testament to how good she is.

Remember - a woman has to work twice as hard to be thought even half as good.

Yep. The qualities that are associated with being female are considered "lesser" qualities in our society when it comes to business and politics. But, if a woman tries come across as having more of the qualities associated with being male to get ahead in the business/political world, then she is vilified for that too.

Okay this is going to be more of a rant then anything, I know I'm not telling you anything you all don't already know. But I was having a discussion this morning about politics with someone and something just clicked for me - and pretty much made my head explode.

I've never understood why Obama supporters act as if this campaign has been the worst, dirtiest, campaign ever. When the reality is, that it's been the very opposite. No, it hasn't been perfect, but comparitavely speaking, were these people sleeping during Kerry's campaign? or Gore's? Those were dirty, truly dirty campaigns.

But while Obama has played the martyr, the fact is his campaign threw out the "punjab" line, the "monster" line and worst of all, calling BC a racist. They were the ones emailing the press about the Bosnia. His campaign has played dirty every step. They just did it secretly.

In no way do I think that Hillary has been a saint. She's made mistakes. Bosnia was huge (and quite frankly, broke my heart). The plagerism thing - while accurate - was petty. Geraldine Ferraro should have been handled much better.

But across the board, Obama's attacks on Hillary have been personal, it's been a systematic attack on her as a person. At this point, it doesn't matter what Hillary says or does. They've set her up as the person who throws "kitchen sinks." Hillary didn't even comment on the Wright issue for over a week, and only when she was directly asked. Yet, I still hear Obama supporters blame her for it.

Meanwhile Obama, says one thing, and behaves completely different. He's a massive hypocrite. He says he's not going to run, but does anyway. He votes one way, then claims he meant another. He keeps putting his foot in his mouth, and somehow that's Hillary's fault too. Now, when he actually gets called to task for his comments, he acts like a child and says he won't do anymore debates.

I'm sick of him. He completely disgusts me. There is no way I'll vote for him. I don't care ...... I just can't. I'm in Tx, so it's not as if my vote will count. But I have to look myself in the mirror every morning. If the Dems give him the nomination - I'll be writing in Hillary. period.

Are they also republicans? I have found anyone who is career military or who works for the military wants to stay in this war. It is great for thier careers. You can move up during a war very quickly.

Here is something you WONT READ or HEAR in the mainstream media.

In all the National polls Obama is up & up BIG TIME:confused3

EXCEPT in the new gallup Poll, they have Hillary up by +1!
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ep...s/democratic_presidential_nomination-191.html

I find it interesting that all the polls #'s are soooooooooooooo much different from each other.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/106606/Gallup-Daily-Clinton-46-Obama-45.aspx

"PRINCETON, NJ -- Gallup Poll Daily tracking shows that Hillary Clinton now receives 46% of the support of Democrats nationally, compared to 45% for Barack Obama, marking the first time Obama has not led in Gallup's daily tracking since March 18-20.
These results are based on interviewing conducted April 16-18, including two days of interviewing after the contentious Wednesday night debate in Philadelphia and the media focus that followed. Support for Hillary Clinton has been significantly higher in both of these post-debate nights of interviewing than in recent weeks"

Also Gallup has Clinton beating McCain in the national Poll.....46 to 44, Obama beating him 45 to 44!

I feel more and more like that every day. It is getting to the point where I will only vote for Obama if Hillary is his VP. Would not be surprised if the DNC insists that for the party they do that.

It use to be just the OS that were turning me off. That has changed. It is Obama who has taken front seat to that. DH a rep will not vote for Obama...only Hillary. Will vote McCain if Obama gets the nomination.

Hillary is far from perfect yet she knows this and so do her supporters. Yet many OS and Obama seem to think that it is not okay for her to be perfect she must be ..but it is okay for him not to be perfect. aAfter all he is only human....she is not.

By all rights DH and I should want McCain to win...after all we have a business and REP candidates and issues are great for the business man/woman. But my values are geared more Democratic.

I feel very confident that if we don't have a joined ticket we will loose to McCain. I was watching the news yesterday and I was listening to Edwards Campaign manager. Did you know that he is for Hillary! He was all over on why she would make a great POTUS. Than we had Edwards wife in a round about way say she preferred Hillary. She said she likes her health plan much better. To be that was just a hint on where she stands.

They have both said that they will not come out for either till after NC :confused3 well we know that Obama is going to win that. So why not If Hillary wins PA they don't come out after that and tell the world. If Hillary does great in PA that is telling him that the people that would have voted for him are in favor of her.

NC is mostly Black so that is why he is favored there. Even if Edwards was in with Edwards Obama still would have pulled that state out due to the demographics.

Than there is still Fl. and MI.....whats going on with that? As for the polls that is hard to follow. One day there up the next down. Tuesday is going to be a trying day. WE know she will win it but the million dollar question is By How Much!

Kiki, I agree with you 100% and this is why I will not vote for him either. I also couldn't look at myself in the mirror if I did. If he gets the Dem nod, the Republicans will be taking him down.. I've already heard of some of the powerful ads against him their working on for the general election and Obama will not stand a chance.

I'll probably be writing in Hillary on my ballot also, I don't think that I could stomach McCain as president but like you, I'm in Texas and this state always votes Republican in the general.

You are preaching to the choir! I agree with you 100%. I will go one more for you - he scares me and I think he could potentially be dangerous for our country.

Why do I say that? Well for one - while he (and his supporters) may not like that he is still getting questions about his relationship with Rev Wright - he should expect them. He should have a stock answer and have it down pat by now. The fact that he can be so shaken by this shows a stunning lack of preparation on his part. Our POTUS has to be prepared for anything that is going to be thrown their way - even the stuff they don't want to deal with. Especially the stuff they don't want to deal with.

I have always wondered about polls though. Aren't they ALWAYS going to be limited to the people that feel like responding to them on any given day? I know people like my brother will never respond - just doesn't want to take the time.
