I wanted to post a few highlights from my very first solo trip 10/13-10/17.
--I waitlisted for four months to switch from OKW to one of the "Fab Four" (BWV, BCV, VWL and AKL), but it never came thru and was canceled seven days out. Three days before my trip, I called MS and got a preferred studio at BWV!! At checkin, the CM said that my room was ready! When I opened the windows of my preferred view room, I could see the entire boardwalk, Spaceship Earth and a great deal of the lake. I was truly in heaven! (Room 4053)
--Epcot was crowded on Saturday and Sunday! I had a beer and people watched. This was wonderful.
--The new movie at Canada was pretty funny with Martin Short. They changed the song a good bit and really I wasn't too disappointed. I used to watch the movie and then sing that song for days on end!
--I met up with a group of dissers on Sunday nite for an Illuminations cruise. And it was great, a great bunch of folks and the fireworks were great too!!
--On Monday I went to see David Cassidy. I was talking to the lady next to me and mentioned the boards, she asked if it was the disboards and I said yes, and she said that she was Feralpig!!!! I let out a scream and gave her a big hug!!! She was there with a friend and I think her friend thought I was a little nuts.
When David got to the song "I think I love you", I grabbed another lady that I met in line and we rushed the stage! Which started an avalanche of people rushing the stage! The poor CM's were trying hard to keep us back, but, the security was very lax, two skinny girls and a young kid no bigger than my 15 year old son. It was fun!
--I rested some on Monday and then went over to the Magic Kingdom and took the monorail over to the Contemporary to view the construction. It is definitely a c shaped building. Everybody says that it is DVC!! Even the boat captain of our illuminations cruise! Who also told me that if you own AKL, then you get the concierge no matter what category room you book!! LOL.
--I went to see the AKL models at the preview center and they were really nice. The one-bedroom shower is really fantastic as well as the fact that the one bedroom had two bathrooms and the twin bed in a chair. I can see us using this resort several times once the new building is finished. I hope that all the new DVC rooms are built this way.
--I had lunch at Kona Cafe and it was really really good! During lunch, I called MS and booked AKL Savannah view studio for my spring break! I couldn't believe that it was available less than six months out!
--Thanks to a great disser, I had tickets to MNSSHP, The parade and Hallowishes was just perfect. However, it was much more crowded than I remember from last year, and it was a tuesday nite!!
--My ME pick up time was at 4:20, there were two of us on the bus! lol.
Bad news: I left my swimming suit and shorts on the balcony when I left.
All in all, it was a good trip, but I did miss the kids from time to time. However, I got to ride all the roller coasters which I normally don't get to do because my daughter is scared of them. I think that Expedition Everest is my favorite ride and fantasmic is my favorite show.
Sorry so long!
