Does anyone know what type of highchairs the restaurants offer. DS will be 4 1/2 months when we go in a couple of weeks and we were wondering if the restaurants any infant friendly highchairs. We're trying to avoid taking the big stroller with us to the parks (and on the busses).

Most restaurants have the typical wooden, restaurant-style high chairs. I think I've seen a post about a few better sit down restaurants that keep a couple of baby-friendly high chairs, but I'm not sure what those restaurants are.

Have you posted this question on the family boards? They would probably be able to give you better information.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just posted it on the family board.

When we were at Crystal Palace in October they had an infant high chair which is like the supermarket carts infant "buckets" but on a high chair base. It was great! I wish they had had them at all the restaurants we ate at! Just for the record we ate at Boma, 1900 Park Fare, Garden Grill, Rose and Crown and Liberty Tree Tavern.

With a baby that small, I'd go buy, or bring if you have, the snap in stroller frame that holds most baby seats. Even with a small one, you cant bring the stroller into the resturaunt, so being able to snap the seat out and put in on the high chair will be very convenient. Evenflo's seast fit in the wooden chair right side up and the rest will fit in the base, so just turn the high chair upside down. Itll be easier for the plane trip, too.

2 comments, both from our recent trip to Chef Mickey's 3 weeks ago.

First, we saw the infant "bucket" high chairs there, as well.

Second, the folks next to us had an infant carrier, and wanted to do the "upside-down high chair" thing to hold it (which, by the way, we did ALL the time around town :teeth: ). BUT...the wait person informed them that they were not allowed to do that, since the highchairs are not meant for that purpose. I suppose, if something happened, a person could sue (and in the lawsuit happy world we live in now, who can blame Disney for being wary). I don't know about using the Evenflo seat in the upright highchair though.

i can never figure out why people turn the high chair upside down.

1. the "base becomes very small and narrow compared to the wide top when turn upside down.

2. Most of the wooden ones have a slightly higher back rest than front. so now you have a greater tipping hazard.

3. Most infant carriers I have seen will fit when the highchair is right side up. The back side will even latch onto the back rest if you have that type of carrier. It could be that I had a good carrier with a bottom that just fit right in the seat part.
