Hello everyone,
I am starting my blog today, this way I can track my wedding and stay on my goal point. My wedding is over 2 years away and I'm sure this seems crazy, but today I had sort of a revelation.
I guess to begin I will start with my fiancé and I. My name is Amy and his Ryan. We have been together since '07 and as the title says we are high school sweethearts. Trust me I have heard a lot about us being so young and getting married, but even being so young we have been through a lot and we know we are getting married because we love each other and want to spend our lives together. Our parents approve and everyone that knows us, knows we belong together. Ryan and I went to our first semester of college together and we loved it, but for financial reasons I had to come home, and he stayed. It was while we were apart we got engaged. I live in South Florida and he was in North Florida, I went up for a rare weekend visit and he purposed our first night together. It is kind of a funny story when all is said and done. Here it goes.
I spent the morning and early afternoon driving, and when I got there I spent the day with him and my good friends. Ryan told me he had plans for dinner and he helped me pick out what to wear. I love him for that! He took me to Carrabba's, one of our favorites when I lived there because it made me feel closer to home, as it is a family favorite. It didn't start out so great because Ryan had a "stomach ache" and barely touched his dinner. So we finished our dinner and I told him we needed to make a run to walmart and head back to the dorms. But he refused said he didn't want to spoil my night and said we should see the sunset (we were on the east coast, there is no sunset) at the beach about 5 minutes down the road. So I didn't want to ruin his moment and said sure we'll go sit on the beach. Anyways we got to the beach and was laughing like crazy when it hit him we weren't at home on the west coast. But we were there so he still wanted to stay. We sat down on the vacant beach and talked and relaxed for about an hour. After an hour it was pretty dark so we got up to leave and as we were walking he was telling me how much he loved me and how happy he was and then he stopped me, got down on his knee, and I realized what was going on and instantly laughed. Great reaction right? Anyways he asked me to marry him and he managed to say that he asked my dad for permission, and of course I said yes. We picked a date about six months ago November 2013, and now today I had a revelation which is a story in itself.
It actually happened today I was sitting on the couch thinking about my Uncle Mickey. He passed away in '03 and today was his birthday. We were very close, and his daughters, my cousins, and I grew up together. His real name isn't Mickey, but he got the nickname from my grandma. I was thinking about that and thought about the last time I went to Disney, was with him. I haven't been since. I like him being in my last memory of Disney. Honestly until today, I haven't planned on going back until I had children. Disney to me became very sacred. I always thought he would be at my wedding and he would give my dad a hard time and tell him he was going to walk with us both down the aisle. On the travel channel there was a special on Disney Weddings and I decided it was perfect and instantly decided I had to have a Disney wedding. Then my Uncle Mickey could walk me down the aisle with my dad in spirit.
Ryan loved the idea, and so there it is, our story. One more thing to add, Ryan and I are saving and our absolute max is $20,000 because we are paying for it. However, we would like to keep it near $15,000. We are going to have 50 - 60 guest. Only about 10 friends, the rest is close family. That is counting gown and tux, but not rings. We really hope this is possible. It has to be magical, and I am hoping to dedicate it to my Uncle Mickey. Everything just fits!
Any ideas and advise is more then welcomed.
