High School Graduation Anouncements?

Graduation is June 11, when do we send anouncements out?

Our graduation is June 5th. I plan on sending announcements out early May.

Can I ask a really dumb question? Who all do you send announcements to? Family members and close friends?

We are sending to "most" of family, and close friends; both his, family and a few of mom and dad's freinds.
Is this correct?
We basically took the Christmas List

I was thinking end of April/beginning of May. I haven't even gotten the one's I ordered through the school yet. I had forgotten about it! Glad to get this little reminder.

I have 2 graduating this year and this thought hadn't even crossed my mind yet. Boy am I feeling old all of the sudden.

Our senior picks his announcements up March 25th.. We have 3 in the family members graduating from 3 different schools this year.. one May 14, OURs is May 28th and the last one is June 5th. I think I'm going to send ours out early mid-April. We are only sending to close family and friends (just a handful of people). We already worked out party schedules as no-one wanted to join parties due to distance and we all just picked weekends that would be convenient for all to attend.

Me either....and this is my third child graduating. Never sent out annoucements before. I figure the people most important to us..know he's graduating, no need to annouce it.
I've never received one either. Frankly, I think I'd take it as a sort of "send a gift" type of annoucement. Not sure I'm comfortable with that.

We are only sending Announcements to people out of town, that we know cannot attend her party, Grandparents for a keepsake, and one for her Senior memory book.( I only ordered 25, they were really pricey!)
Graduation for DD is June 6th - her party is the next week June 12th.

I plan to send the open house invitations in the first week of May.
Announcments will be sent around the same time, or later - Grandparents know she is graduating, it is more of a keepsake for them.

If the people getting them are not expected to attend the ceremony, you do it the same way that you send wedding announcements: on the date of the event.

Invitations, of course, are a different matter.

Around here most people send a photo announcement, like a Christmas card and it is more for their Graduation party. Around here it is almost 'expected" that you send them. We will mostly send to family and friends from our old town, the kids just list their party date and time on Facebook for local friends.

We will send them out in the next month or so, mainly to family. We do not expect a gift, and most of the family will not send one. The grandparents probably will, but they would have with or without the formal invitiations.

Why is it harsh it's my opinion & I'm entitled to it. I don't care about my relative that I haven't seen in 20 years kid is graduating. Even worse there was an enclosed card requesting cash!!!!!! So yeah I see them as a gift grab. Any close enough relative wouldn't need an announcement they'd be invited the the party.

Ok, I see your point about the cash request. That's pretty tacky.

I don't get to see some family very often, but we do enjoy keeping up with each other's lives.

We don't send them to people across the country we haven't seen in 20 years, we will send them to people on our Christmas card list for the most part. We also don't include a "cash request" and we have NEVER received one like that either .
