Hi everyone, I am new on the boards but definitely NOT to Disney! Disney kid born and bred. Now (I am 26 and married two years) my husband and I are looking to head back for our next vacation at the end of January..but here's the kicker..

Flights seem cheap and hotels seem expensive?! :( I actually work in the hotel sales field, so part of me knows rates change everyday..but what are your thoughts on the best rates for end of January?

I've been reading up on your Pin Code posts, I don't have one - but maybe I would get one in the mail?

Typically i think we book through 3rd party, but hotwire/expedia don't even list the hotels on property this early.

I thought this was a slower time of year for the parks, so should I just be patient and wait on booking rooms?! I'm not all that concerned with dining plans, etc. Just looking to save some $$$!!

Thanks in advance for any help!!

The rates for the rooms won't change. When in January are you coming?

If you are in Disney's system it is possible to get a pin code, but there's no way to depend on it since they're very random. Depending on dates, you might get a room discount you could apply.

Jan 8 - 12 is the marathon and rates will increase for that. You've also got MLK on Jan 20.

You can look at their 'seasonal' pricing to see when the cheaper weeks to go are on the website. I just searched for dates, chose view nightly rate, and then clicked 'view seasonal rates.' Looks like in general the weekends are upcharged but most rates are in the mid 90's at value level. That seems pretty in line with past years to me.

The discounts for January of 2013 came out in early October. This time of year always receives some sort of discount, so I wouldn't worry about it too much yet.

Oh - October! That is much later..but kind of what I expected! Thanks for your help! :) aaarcher, we are looking to go the 25th, so it looks like were in the clear for the marathon etc.. hopefully rates would go down again if it's a slow time :)

The room rates are set already. They won't drop at all.
We check in on the 25th as well. That is the Value season (Value 1 season..not 2)..cheapest rates you will get.

To see the room pricing go to the Disney site do a room booking only and put in your dates. It will list the room rate per day for your stay. Here's ours for POR

Date Rate per Night
Sat, Jan 25 $ 191.00
Sun, Jan 26 $ 175.00
Mon, Jan 27 $ 175.00
Tue, Jan 28 $ 175.00
Wed, Jan 29 $ 175.00
Thu, Jan 30 $ 175.00
Fri, Jan 31 $ 191.00
Sat, Feb 01 $ 191.00

$1629 for our room.

Considering Jan promo will Play/Stay/Dine again or a room discount its easy to figure out our package.

We never do just a room discount.

We usually go with free dining but that looks like its going to be a thing of the past for January since they introduced the P/S/D promo in 2013

For us
-room cost $1629

plus
-Adults play kids prices for dining plan $17.16 x 3 people x 8 nights $411.85

plus
-Adults pay kids prices for tickets 6 day regular tickets x 3 = $895

So for us for January it will be approx. $2935

The P/S/D promo should turn into a General public code bookable the first week of October. (Currently pin..then will go to Disney Visa)

As previously mentioned by myself and a few posters, the room rates are not going to change. The rates are set by the date of travel, not date of booking.

We're booked for Jan 23-31. Really hoping for a pin too. But it does sound positive they'll be something eventually.

You can apply discounts afterwards right? As long as you don't pay off your vacation in full?

As long as your current reservation meets the requirements of the new promo package.
ie: room type & # of park tickets to qualify for package.

or just room type for room discount.

Adding in that it doesn't matter if you're paid in full. You can still have a discount applied and they will refund you.

Looks like the rumors of free dining into December is going to be a thing..I honestly think I'll take a room discount over dining :) My husband and I just spent an hour last night trying to do the math and a dining plan might not even be saving us money!! Plus..they feed you dessert ALOT and for me I don't think its really worth it?!
