This will be our thirs year going to WDW in May and I've never seen car rental prices this high- more than double the highest I've seen! Has anyone found a good deal out of MCO?
The best I got on Dollar for 8 days in May is just over $200, inc. taxes. We, too, have been spoiled by years of incredible deals ($104 inc. taxes, $120 inc. taxes) for the same length of time.
Look on the bright side, Avis wants $430 before taxes for a mini-van for a week...can you say INSANE. Go with Dollar with code. Got one for $200 with taxes for a week.
I know our rate for January wasn't that great a couple of months before, but about two weeks before we left Alamo went down and had a $40 off coupon then went down some more the week before. So keep checking the rates because I'm sure they will go down as it gets closer.

Where do you enter the code? The only option I have to enter anything is Corporate #, and it won't accept that- it keeps saying Please enter valid CD number... Nevermind, I found out on mousesavers how to do it. Let's see what I can get with that one...
ETA- The best I found was $280 for a minivan for 9 days, definately the best I've seen but still not great. The smaller cars weren't worth the price. I'll keep checking, I still have time.
I booked a minivan w/ Dollar for May 3-11 for $242 total. I used "Kiss2" as the code. That was by far the best rate I found so far. We went that week last year and I got a minivan through Alamo for $160 for 9 days. I guess I won't be that lucky this time around. We may skip the car this time and just use the Magical Express but we've been spoiled w/ a car now!!
But always keep looking... book and rebook as needed!
I am in the same boat. I did book through Dollar for $176 for 7.5 days with dollar for an intermediate using the KISS2 code. I really would prefer National or Alamo but they are way to high. Hopefully closer to May prices will be cheaper.
Yes, you should prepare yourself now if you've not traveled lately. We went in October and paid well over $300 (13 days), and now we're leaving this weekend, for a 7 day rental EA/National we are finally at $188. That is high compared to past years. Now if you can find a week for $200 or less consider that good. Early February is a slow time of year, but the car rentals are high, just like there were in October. As for May, I too am holding a reservation at Dollar for $313 for 14 day rental/full size. I belong to both QS/Alamo and EA/national and watch daily, but the rates are staying high. Yeah, they'll tease you a little and drop a couple of dollars, but as for the drops we are use to, it just isn't happening. As for my 7 day rate of $188, I'm happy I got it that low, because it's back over $200 again and that is with the $30 coupon. Let's hope they start dropping again in the Spring, because they didn't in the fall and winter.
We booked an intermediate (DH hates little cars) for $140 Sun-Sat including all taxes/fees. Base rate was about $109 for the week. Thank you Mousesavers!
