HIFS vs Ft. Wilderness Cabin?

Trying to decide which place would be better for my family of six.

I know ALOT about each place due to my constant research and now I think I need information from other larger families as to how comfortable each actual accommodation would be.

Any help would be appreciated as I do not have much time left to decide!

We were a family of 5 on our last trip to HIFS. My DH, myself, 2 dd's ages, 2 and 9, and my MIL.

I thought there was enough space for everyone in the room.

Haven't stayed at FW, but we did look into it. It looked quite nice, but wasn't a good fit for us because I like the "hotel atmophere".

What is the price difference between the two?

HIFS will run $110 a night (plus the $8 a day we will pay to park at the parks) I believe I can get the Cabin for $144. The difference for the 3 nights would be around $75.

I was just thinking of the sleeping arrangements with 6 in each and how much room there is to walk around etc.

I would stick with FW - just because with a family of 6 - WDW transportation is almost a must

what if one person gets sick if you stay at HIFS -everyone will have return - at FW - that person can leave by themselves or with a parent if necessary and everyone else can stay.

also sometimes a young child will get scarey of the noise of the fireworks - at FW - the child and one parent can leave before the kids get badly scarey. while everyone else can stay and enjoy it.

FW has the bunk beds - so kids seems to like it.

but still 6 in one place is still alot of people and 1 bathroom

have you priced 2 All Star rooms - then you would be dealing with 4 full beds instead of 2 full beds and 2 bunk beds - plus you get 2 bathrooms.

Hmmm...I'm not sure what I'd do with the difference of only $75.

Not sure how old your children are but there are bunkbeds in the kids room with a small pull out bed. There is also a pull-out bed in the living room area, and a king sized bed in the bedroom.

I think you'd have more privacy at HIFS, but staying at FW you'd have a full kitchen.

We've stayed at both. My DD (17 now-11, 13, 14 then) says HIFS. Cooler pool, nintendo, arcade, poolside and evening activities, free buffet breakfast (I figure that's like staying free ) etc. Since you have included your parking fees, you must have a car. And to be honest, at FW, we used the car everywhere anyway---unless you rent a golf cart (add that $40? a day-and all 6 won't fit on it). I love FW, but I'd probably agree with my daughter and say HIFS! I loved the lockable room with the king bed and my own personal tv.

Oh, and we utilized the microwave for soup, the fridge for drinks and frozen water bottles at HIFS. At FW, the only thing we cooked was pizza.

Personally, before I spent $110/nt at HIFS I would rent a condo and everyone would have lots of space. For the same if not less per night. We were 6 this last January and that's what we did, only $65/nt 3bdrm/2baths. I do understand this is not for everyone but it worked well for us.
