HI ALL!
Just back from HIFS and sorry to say another Fun, Warm, Homey Place is going the way of the Dino.
Saw the MODEL for the NEW AND IMPROVED NICK HIFS and was not impressed.
The HIFS is truely showing it's age a little and the food is sliding but the theme of the Resort seem to me as the same concept of "The Big Guy" of family entertainment , Walt Disney, who would have wanted his Resorts to be.
What I mean is walking into the lobby where the nooks and crannies have character and don't reach out and shock you or stun you with color. At the eateries chairs and table are movable and manipulated by guests to customize their experience eating or drinking. Or rubbing elbows with strangers and help you find what ever at the buffet breakfast, but that is the way you meet new friends.
The HIFS grounds now have wild life guest take a minute to gander at before and after meals.
Some HIFS guest like noisy pools and others like quiet pools, not at the future HIFS.
I did appreciate the staff of HIFS of the past 5 days but I wonder if anything with a NICK theme which is of shallow family values quality can match the niche of HIFS of today or the past.
I wonder if the original owners will move on to the Orange Lake Resort.
One Diser's option.

Well that's the Great thing about Orlando, there are only about 20 million other hotels right in that area that you can check out!!

I like staying either on-site if we're doing Disney, or at a beautiful condo resort if we're not.

Try a one-bedroom condo at Vistana sometime, you might be pleasantly surprised!

Call us shallow and lacking in family morals, but my kids love Nickelodeon. Steve and Blue have been a part of my life for almost 5 years now, I might not have been showering all these years if not for them. With the addition of water slides and two pools for people to spread out at, we just might go back now. It would not be luxurious, but sure would make my kids happy!
Some people are scared off by change, but I love it. In fact, I have never stayed in the same hotel twice. I like to mix it up a little.

Hi MK :),

I can definitely see your points. HIFS does have a unique family quality to it. I hope that doesn't leave when all remodeling is complete.

I do like the changes. My children are huge NICK fans so they are very excited. I am thrilled at the fact that they are adding water slides to the pools.

I was a little surprised to see that they were making the quiet pool a pool with activity. Perhaps it was to lessen the overcrowding of the other pool? I honestly don't know. The times we visited HIFS there was always very little activity in the quiet pool and it seemed like that side of the hotel was always half empty. I'm not sure if they are changing more of the regular rooms over there to include more kidsuites. Thereofre, maybe they feel the need for a family pool over there as well?

I hope it doesn't discourage you from staying at HIFS again.

Take care,

Teresa

Awww...Jimmy, I'm going to feel like I have my own personal stalker. You just can't resist talking to me can you?

Thanks for the offer to buy me dinner, but you aren't my type. I prefer someone who sits upright and whose conversation can consist of something other than himself.

And please let us all know when you throw away $225 a night for HIFS, that we can all have a good laugh at your expense again.

You have a nice evening :)

Oh goody! Another thread to subscribe to. :flower: See, I don't get Nickelodian up here in Canada, so it doesn't mean a thing to me. I did like to watch "Nick at Night" at the non-Disney HIFS. Trains, we have. :teeth:

Some things will never change........:( It is nice to see that some are willing to pay rack rate so that the rest of us can get the discounted rooms!! Yeah! :):):) :cheer2:
339 more days..... so that would be the end of April, 2005....just so I know when NOT to book at HIFS
Teresa, your own personal stalker...how creepy!! (He must like you)

Proof positive that you are the prototypical HIFS resident. Only 339 more days 'till my family spends $225 a night at the upper moderate, clean, and washed NFS. Yeah!

You may be paying $225 but the rest of the hotel will still be 50% off. An increase from $99 to $112.50 might be saleable. I understand what you're looking for but it won't be HIFS.

Are some of these posts part of a weird advertising campaign to convince us that the new HIFS will be worth $225/nt? Not buying it.

Someone is being very offensive here. I am not even a SAHM, but I am even terribly offended at certain comments made in this thread.

ROFL! I know! If he weren't so pathetic, it would almost be scary!

It is a sad shame that we can not even discuss HIFS any longer without the rude, harassing and disgusting comments made by one particular poster.

Now he's gone from personal insults to insulting a whole country...watch it BJ..there are a lot of us Canucks here on the Dis....infact the number of us who go south everywinter, including retiring there, helps your economy (well Florida for sure).
But, you are so narrowminded that you probably didn't think of that. Take your blinders off and get a life!!!!!
You are sad. If you truly want to debate something, head on over to the debate board....where, by the way, Im sure they'll eat you alive! HA!

Put the irritating poster on ignore. Then he can talk to himself all day if he wants to.

I'm rolling with laughter at the thought of a Holiday Inn charging over $200/night. It would be a cold day you know where before I'd pay that!

But anyway, I haven't been to HIFS. Does the resort only have two pools which will both be themed pools? In other words, no quiet pools?

HI ALL!

Have all of you seen the glass enclosed Model of the future HIFS in the lobby?
An addition is being constructed at this moment and parking is more difficult than before, and after they finish the change over to the new HIFS there is no mention of additional parking.
One model suite had "Fairy God Parents Theme" with Wonda, Jimmy, etc.

When we went this past Feb/March, we went into a new suite to have a look. It was so nice and fresh! Same layout, but of course everything was new and bright. The kitchen table was bigger, if I recall. The theming on the walls looked great! They didn't have that model in the lobby up yet, so I missed that. Im wondering if all the rooms are going to be kids suites, or are they going to keep some of their cinema, residential suites etc? Also, they have those newer "double" suites (2 basically 2 suites together)...I wonder if they'll keep those. They look good for a large group. My DSis just called to inquire about rates for next spring, but the rates wont be out until July.
Later
Karen
