We are arriving at HIFS on Oct. 20th and staying for a week? Can anyone tell me if the laundry facilities are often available or should I just over pack? Is there a laundry room on every floor? I hate to waste a lot of time waiting for a machine. Thanks for your help!!

It will depend on when you want to do it. When I was there in August, I did the laundry twice. The first week, I did it at night. Getting a washer wasn't a problem but getting a dryer certainly was. The drying cycle is 40 min. But the dryers do not work that well at all. It takes at least 2 cycles to dry your clothes. It was cut throat trying to get a dryer. People can be ruthless even in a laundry room LOL! There was one woman who took over the laundry room. At one time she had 4 out the 6 dryers. Apparently, no one else was entitled to a dryer until she was finished. She literally stood in front of the dryers for the whole time. As soon as one became available, she'd jump right in and take half the clothes from one of "her" other dryers and put them into "her" new one. This created a huge back log for the dryers. That night, I didn't finish the laundry until 2:00 am.
The second week, I did the laundry in the morning while my wife took the kids to the pool. I had the place to myself.
I believe there is one laundry room in each building (6 washers and 6 dryers in my building).

I agree. It seems like everyone wants to do the laundry at night - and I have been in the laundry facilities at HIFS when one or two "washer hogs" have taken over. It does seem like it is emptier in the mornings. Everyone just wants to eat and get out for the day.

We did do laundry about 2/3 of the way through our 7 night stay... It was on a different floor & end of the building but I just shoved everything in my rolling luggage & away we went.. I did do it in the afternoon while everyone was still at the parks & didn't have any issues with waiting for machines. Have fun!

I vote for pack more. Last year when we stayed at Hilton Downtown Disney, the laundry room was under repairs, we didn't ask before we went, and we weren't told, we ran out of underwear and socks mid week! I washed my underwear by hand, I know, TMI. I bought new socks at Downtown Disney for the kids. I plan on packing extra for our next trip.

Thanks so much for your advice. I think i will bring extra clothes for everyone and not worry about it. Thanks again!!!!
