Hidden Ariel LOL

DS and I did Peter Pan today, it's the first time I've been on PP since 2004, it's one of my favorite rides and it now is one of DS's (yay). Anyway on the ride today as we were going through Neverland DS and I spied a mermaid that looks just like Ariel. She's sitting in the middle of the 3 mermaids. Ds thought it was cool as he loves all the princesses LOL

The first time my daughter rode this ride she was afraid. As we passed the mermaids I pointed out Airel to her and she wasn't so afraid anymore!

Yup we just noticed it as well during our X-mas Trip. My DD yelled it out,lol look mom its Ariel......

DD loves to find tinkerbell on it when we are there and ther several times we ride it each trip. But it is special each and every time.

That mermaid has been there for years - long before Ariel arrived on thescene. It's more like Ariel looking like the Peter Pan mermaid......

When my 8yo DD was 3, she used to call it "the Ariel ride".

Believe it or not, my DS (then 5) pointed out "Ariel" the first time we were on PP. I was so busy looking for Tinkerbell but he was just so fascinated with the mermaids--especially the one that looked like Ariel. We went on it several times that vacation and every time he would say, "see mom, Ariel!" We still look for our favorite mermaid on every trip! Even though DS is now 10, he humors his mother and grandmother and goes on PP!!! (such a good boy!! )

I read somewhere - I wish I could remember, maybe Jim Hills' site - that the red-haired mermaid has always been there. After The Little Mermaid was released, people kept asking if that was indeed Ariel. This inspired the imagineers to place the purple shells on Ariel's, errr..., you know what I'm trying to say, so it is indeed supposed to be Ariel. (Although, I may have just perpetuated an urban myth!)
