Neither. I think she's making an example that, "if u rite leik ths all teh tme" people will think you are completely ignorant.

Speaking of which, I was a gym aide for a freshman gym class last semester and I had to correct tests sometimes. Some people had so many spelling mistakes and they actually wrote things like, "u, idk". Sheesh.

And to clarify, I am pretty sure there used to be a rule (or an advisement) against chatspeak.

I know that personally, I don't like it. It's annoying.

Plus, we're all pretty mature here on the TB and I like to think that we're all perfectly capable of putting all necessary letters into our words when we type.

That and for some reason, whenever I see "type liek ths on th bords" I think of bratty, spoiled 11 year olds with unlimited texting plans and I cringe because that's the future of this country.

you can abbreviate things, but leaving out significant portions of words is just really plain annoying.

it just ends up being a pain to read and more often than not, those posts just get skipped over because nobody wants to bother to try and translate that into normal speech.

So if you want to be heard and recognized, it would be better for you to type everything out.
