info....
I just recently started training, I started out walking in October, now I am up to running 5 miles...I just did my first 5 mile New Years Day fun run....i am debating if I want to do the Long Island Marathon and The Diva Run in October.
But i really have my heart set on doing the TOT 10miler in Sept.
So what I am looking for is, anyone who has done a DisneyRun....what info can you share with me....
For example where do you stay? do you get discounts? do you usually stay extra days before or after your trip? do you buy park tickets?
I heard the chars, are all around the parks.....do you stop to take pictures with them? how does that work?
If your running and want to walk can you do that?
Change of clothes? etc?
Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Hi and Welcome!

You will get a lot more response when everyone gets back from marathon weekend (explains why there's not much going on around here right now). I did the half and full marathon last January, so I have a little bit of experience.

We stayed for 8 days for the 2 days of running and made a vacation out of it.
I don't think you get any room discounts for entering the race. Sometimes, there are park ticket discounts. I don't know which hotels will have transportation for that specific race. Hopefully, someone can help you with that.
In the races I did, there were characters all along the race routes. Lots of people stopped at all or most of them and took pics. I did one character, but that was it.
You can absolutely walk during the race. Just make sure you are to the right, and let the people behind you know you're about to slow down.
I don't know what you mean by change of clothes. I went back to the hotel afterwards and showered and changed.

I think it would be a wonderful experience to do this race, especially the first year. Hope you get all the info you need. Good luck.

You get a slight discount through Run Disney on the rooms, and on tickets if you buy a 2+ more day park ticket, iirc. I had my park tickets comped to me by a friend who works for a Disney affiliate. The discount on the room was 15 or 20%.

If you can hold off on deciding until some time in March, I can give you my opinion on both the Diva Run and a Run Disney event. I did the Diva Run in Long Island last year, and am doing the Disney Princess Half Marathon this year.

It is absolutely ok to run and walk, mixing it up as you need to.

ahhh good point, didn't think about the runners being away....thanks
and yes, by change of clothes, that is what i meant do you go back to your room or rent a locker and go to a park, but i guess if your tired, a rest is more like it ;)

My friends did the Diva run, we are from LI, so i was on the side lines cheering them on, i am sure i cheered for you!!! we cheered for all the runners passing my friends house :thumbsup2

If i wait, do you think I have a chance of getting in, reg. opens up Feb. 14th I think, or early Feb.

Thank you for the info on the run/walk thing!!!:thumbsup2

BUMPING IN HOPES THAT RECENT RUNNERS CAME HOME NOW AND ARE ABLE TO HELP ME OUT HERE.....THANK YOU!!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

info....
.
For example where do you stay? depends on the race for marathon and Princess, I like to be on the EPCOT/DTD side of the parks

do you get discounts? AP, DVC, used to get FL resident, but that party's over now

do you usually stay extra days before or after your trip? I don't but many people do. The thing to watch if you have extra days before the race is not to overdo the parks prior to the race

do you buy park tickets? we have annual passes

I heard the chars, are all around the parks.....do you stop to take pictures with them? how does that work? I don't because I'm always worried about time. The folks that do just stop on the side and get in line to see the characters. There's often a photopass photog there and/or a cast member who will use your camera
If your running and want to walk can you do that? absolutely. many folks run/walk or walk the races
Change of clothes? up to you. most folks like some comfy shoes to put on after the race, but there's no really good place to change at the finish line
Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

hope that helps!
