Hello, I just bought at SSR. I did it over the phone, being I have been to Disney ....many, many times. But this is my first trip in a few weeks as DVC! Now, do they do anything for your initial first visit?
I am planing on meeting up with "Steve" again when I get down there.
But was just wondering if I get all my info and stuff in my room?

thanks!

You mean all of your closing documents and such? You should get those via Fed Ex, I've never heard of closing on site, but I'm sure that could be done as well.

Congratulations and welcome home.

Just wanted to say Welcome!! :cool1:

We purchased our DVC over the phone as well due to many WDW trips. We did ours through the Doorway to Dreams in Woodfield, IL, though.

If you are asking if they do anything special because it is your first DVC visit, there is nothing "standard" that is done. I beleive that I have read some posts where some guides have done something, but I think it is usual.

Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

Some guides will leave a 'welcome' voice mail for you, but that's about it.

If you want to meet with your guide to say hi, by all means do so. But you're pretty much done with your guide after you've bought, unless you plan to buy more points. Their job is to sell; you'll call Member Services or Member Accounting for everything you need to do with your membership from now on.

I don't want to discourage you from going over to say hello, but didn't want you thinking you HAD to meet with him because you'd be dealing with him every time you plan a trip for the next 40 years. :)

lol...I actually already know my Guide! I am also a CM, and this is the first time I have bought...and yes, I just talked to him(guide) and he has just made my first ressies for in 3 weeks from now and will give me my member number tomorrow!

He just told me I will receive them(all my paper work and booklet) via Fed Ex.

but I want a PARTY IN THE ROOM...for my first arrival!! haa haa, granted, I know Donald and Mickey and Goofy, but I still want a PARTY!! with balloons and streamers!

We purchased over the phone, too. Our guide, Bernard, still calls and leaves a welcome message on the room phone every time we stay. On our first stay, which was at SSR, he invited us to stop in at the preview center to meet him. When we did, he surprised us with a card to get instant FastPasses on three rides. (I think that was one of the incentives they were giving people who took tours at the time.) He also gave us a very nice hardcover version of the planner. That was five years ago, though. Your mileage may vary.

BTW, welcome home!

All it takes is a credit card and a call to the Disney Florist.

Oh, you mean you wanted it free? Mickey don't play that.

Our guide usually leaves us a voice mail. He typically mentions that if we would like to buy MORE POINTS we should give him a call! :rotfl2:

We never hear from our guide when we are there in fact we stopped by SSR to see him and he was out to lunch. oh well ..but anyway
Welcome Home!

Once I mentioned on these boards that our Guide never gives us a call when we are visiting WDW. I only mentioned it because someone here mentioned that her guide always called to say Welcome Home when they were at WDW, and we had the same guide. Well, wouldn't you know it, the next couple of times that we went, our guide did leave us a Welcome Home message.

I would like to meet her sometimes, maybe at a DVC member event.

OP, WELCOME HOME! SSR, Neighbor!!!:banana::banana::banana:

THANKS!!!! I am SOOO excited!!
This is my birthday present to myself!!:cool1:

If you have not yet signed your documents or you are waiting for the booklets, you can ask your guide to have them available during you visit. They can get the docs processed while you are there (notarized, etc) and give you the disclosures and stuff. Just ask your guide.

Welcome Home and excellent choice on resorts! :thumbsup2

The first few years I always received a message from my guide after I checked in. Then for a while nothing. Last few trips sometimes she calls, sometimes she doesn't. I found out at one point that she does a lot of cruise trips so I figure if I don't hear from her she must be doing a stint on the cruise line. She was also one of the Host guides to launch GCV so she was out in CA for a bit working with them and then she was going around to Host the presentations they were doing around the country.
