Well...sort of...let me introduce myself
I've been lurking for weeks now. I like to make sure I've actually tried to find all the information possible before I actually ask questions.
Anyways... I'm a Junior at Kansas State University, majoring in Sociology (I was an architecture student, but I figured since just the schooling required 40 hours or more a week, the actual job would probably require much more....)
I'm not actually living in Kansas right now though. I'm studying abroad in Prague (that's in the Czech Republic, next to Germany, for those of you who were about to open a new tab and search it)
Anyways... Disney-wise. I've loved it ever since I was little. When I was about 4 years old we lived in Florida, right outside Orlando, and we found out about the wonderful Disney Florida Resident Passes (I know...I was just about the luckiest 4 year old ever) Anyways, we went A LOT. I'm not sure exactly how often, because I was 4, but my mom always loved putting us in the car and taking us places, and what better place than the Happiest Place on Earth.
I actually got lost in Disney World when I was four. I was just walking along following someone I thought was my father (Disney mesmerizes me... what can I say) and when I figured out he wasn't my father (I probably started to cry) a Cast Member took me behind a desk... and we waited for my parents to come get me.
Anyways... many happy memories there.
Then it would be another 10 years before I got back. I have 2 sisters and 3 brothers, and my parents were convinced that we needed to wait until the youngest was old enough to ride all the rides. (I don't think he was this time.... but that's ok) This was the Spring of 2001. We stayed off property in a condo. It was great fun. At the time I actually wanted to become a Disney Animator so I was thrilled to be able to go.
The most recent time was last New Year's. One of my younger brothers, who was actually only a year old when we lived there, is in the High school Marching Band, and they go to Disney every 3 years, so we went to support the band. We stayed off property in a condo again. It was a wonderful trip. Lost of long lines, but when you haven't been there in over 5 years it's just fun to enjoy the atmosphere... I spent New Year's Eve with my mom riding the Tomorrowland Transit Authority around and around and around... No line! We also rode Buzz Lightyear over and over again...somehow that one didn't have much of a line either. I don't know if we just have incredible timing, or people were enjoying the other festivities... either way... great fun! The next day we went to Epcot... and I was standing talking to my brother, and he was like this would be a great place to come on a Honeymoon. You could eat in a different "country" every night, and it'd be less expensive than actually going to Europe. (now I know the real truth of that statement... haha)
This brings me to the reason I started lurking on this thread. My honeymoon is tentatively approaching (no ring yet...but that's ok... it doesn't mean I can't plan...hahaha) I've been trying to look at all the angles in order to get the most out of the honeymoon. DB has never been to Disney before (the poor deprived child) and I want to do it up right.
Anyways.... I've been crunching the numbers.... and crunching them again, and right now the plan is the Animal Kingdom Lodge Concierge (the special safaris really appeal to him)
Then from this sprung the idea of taking an All Girl's Trip with my mom and sisters to celebrate mine and my mom's graduation from college. It just so happens I will be receiving my Bachelor's and she will be receiving her teaching certificate at the same time. I suggested the idea to my mom, and she was amazed that we could actually stay on property for around $500 each for the whole trip. (I've been crunching 4day/3night stays)
Soo... I'm tentatively planning two trips for 2009, because I'm crazy, and it's been cold here, and Prague's not so much fun in the cold. Pretty...but cold.
Anyways...that's me in a really large nutshell. I hope you didn't fall asleep from boredom, though I don't know how anything pertaining to Disney could be boring!
