Hi i'm from P.A.!!!!

We were orignially scheduled to be at AKL DVC Concierge from 11/30 to 12/4. I broke my ankle so for a variety of reasons we cancelled our trip. I know I was supposed to meet up with some folk for a min-meet, but we won't be down there. :sad1: I am very sad. The good news, someone else got to stay in our concierge room and got our Le Cellier ressies. :flower3:
Penny:hippie:

Should have come and got a wheelchair, then you go to the front of every line.

I normally have an ecv due to severe back problems. THere is a small (very small) chance that I might need surgery. If that's the case I won't find out until I am in my 30 day window. If you cancel after 30 days, you loose points and I didn't want to take the chance. Penny:hippie:

Oh no Penny!!! I feel terrible for you! We'll meet up next time, don't worry. Just take care of yourself. Fern - are we still meeting at Boardwalk Bakery on the 5th or is it too much for you - I think you leave that day....

Ants - sorry to hear you are stuck in the senior moment phase. I have my days, this morning I had trouble talking. Well we all have our good and bad days.

 I have a new bestfriend... Post its... the problem now is I wrote all the the things I need to remember... then as soon as I leave house/room at wdw ... I forget to bring the post its :lmao:

How is the bus transportation? The first time we stayed there, it was pretty bad. Hopefully, it's gotten better!

sorry Linda... but I dont think it have gotten better... this past Sept.. I have basically given a ride to a family who was complaining about the the buses... I was at MK... waiting for the parade... and this boy sitting next to me was already whining about he doesnt want to take the bus to go home he wants daddy's car.. so I butt in.. and ask... why dont you like to take the bus.. the bus is fun ( mind you the only time I was on the bus was when ME was 1st offered that is it :lmao: ) the boy said... we have to wait forever!!! then ask the mum... and found out they were at SSR!!! I love SSR it is my 2nd fave resort after CR but I have never taken the bus but have heard complains about it... sooo to make this long story short.. No Linda.. it has not gotten better....:grouphug: this was last September though:confused3

Penny ouch!!!!!!! I hope it is nothing major... no surgery or anything like that....

Ok... I wish we are all independently wealthy... last Monday I was told by my manager two great things.. 1st I have to take off Monday or else I loose this one personal day soooo I have a 3 day weekend... would be nice to go to WDW... only thing available are the moderates.... values are sold out... :sad2: then the second news was... I have been plotting their trip for Nov.15 to the 23rd .... adrs...itenerary... shows.. etc... as I gave him the WDW pocket I made... he then ask me if I have anymore vacations.. I do... well he said if you can get someone to work for you that weekend.. you are welcome to go to WDW with us.. his daughter and son in law canceled... :faint: and they are going to be at the GrandVilla SSR :faint:...

Now here is my dillema... I really should stay put... my fridge died and waiting to get a new one as soon as Turkey day sale starts.... and also there is that need to get a new camera since I lost mine last Sept :faint:... I know.. I know this is a no brainer... I should not go... but temptation temptation temptation..

Linda !!! my disneymath is working overtime this past few days!!!:lmao:

Have you called about the camera? I remember someone in the group saying that they only pick up stuff once a month...

I can relate about cancelling or not. My DISer friend redbudlover and I are going back and forth about cancelling our 12/2-8 trip. Neither of us thinks it's a financially wise decision to go right now, but we really want to. Since we're not booked on a package, we can cancel right up to the last couple of days, so we're still thinking about it.

It makes sense then for you to cancel. I don't blame you at all. You need an ECV, but I've talked to many people who have them. And I hear alot that their feet get tired after a couple hours in the park. So do mine. I just think they need to stop letting all the ECV's on the buses/rides first. Especially if you'r enot handicapped. No offense to you, with possible surgery, you have a real issue and need one

Actually, because I "look" healthy I get the looks, comments and everything when waiting for the bus. I rarely ride the rides, so that isn't an issue. However, If I take a trip without DH I try to stay at the BW that way the only bus I have to take is to AK. For everything else I can use either the monorail or the boats. If I am with DH we rent a car and he lifts the ecv in/out of the car. The last time I went without DH I had some pretty rude comments made to me when taking the bus to AK. It makes me feel bad that those people who can't rent a car, have to deal with those attitudes on a daily basis. Sometimes you can't see a person's handicap. Looking at me you wouldn't know that I have a bad back. If you watched me walk, you would know though. :confused3 Penny :hippie:

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

with all the talk about cold weather ... snow.. etc.. I came out with a plan... let's talk Spring !!!!

A spring Picnic/Meet for us Pa'ers... on March 28,2009 at Ridley Creek State Park... (well that is the only park I know and I have been too in Pa.. any suggestion would be great :thumbsup2 )

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I am so in. I am sitting here feeling sorry for myself because I cancelled my trip. A meet in March to look forward to would be wonderful. :goodvibes

Maybe looking at you is one thing. I have a big mouth, I'll ask. Not sure if I shared on this thread about the guy in the wheelchair. During one of those huge rainstorms he got out of his chair, folded it up and outran me to the canopy for cover from the rain.

We'll be at SSR 12/5-9. The last SSR stay was is 2005. The buses were just dreadful!!! Everyone was complaining about it. I got a good price with AP this time, so we thought we'd give it another chance. As for renting a car, since ME came out, we use that. We meet up with my brother's family & it would be me following his car. The boy drives like a madman!! I like not having to worry about driving, following directions, getting lost.....yes getting lost!!:rotfl: I can get lost in my home town!!! :lmao: So I guess I give up my mobility independence for sanity!:rotfl2:

Okay, Linda, you knew this was coming. She isn't lying about her sense of direction and we tease her about that. Thank goodness for ME as it gets her where she needs to go. Good thing she knows Disney so well, probably it would be difficult to navigate the Japan/china choice. She is a good friend and we do this in jest. We all have our areas where we have our weaknesses. By the way, about renting a car - where do you get a car for $10.00 a day. That is incredible.

We will be in WDW at POR Nov 30-Dec 6 also!:cool1: We are taking the autotrain down to FL so we will have our car.:thumbsup2 When we fly we always rent a car. Too much time wasted waiting around for busses. Nice to see all the other PAers heading to the world.

We are staying at FW in a cabin 11/29 through 12/2. First time staying here, but it will be neat for all five of us to be together in one room. Disney son will get us some food to keep in our kitchenette area so we won't have to buy breakfast every day and will have snacks. Anything we have left over will be given to him when we leave. He lives right in Orlando and works out of MK.

so from 05 to 07 they didn't get any better. I wish you luck this year. One of the biggest problems last was those scooters that seem to be everywhere now. Buses would show up for 45 minutes, but just as they did here came the train of scooters.

Oh NO!!!! :sad2: :sad2: It doesn't look too good for SSR buses!! I mentioned this to my DSIL & perhaps we should rent a minivan. The only times I would be worried about is the late breakfast ADR @ Chef Mickey's. It's not until 11am, but getting all 8 of us up & out is sometimes a chore!! Not me though...I'm always ready!! :rotfl: Thanks for the info!

Oh my, Timmy!!! I feel your pain of indecision! That Disney fuzzy math can really mess with your mind!! A Grand Villa to top it off! If you can swing it....go for it! But if not, you have your other trips all lined up!:goodvibes

What about if we do it on March 14th ??? Since Spring is on March 20???

I am off both weekends... the 14th or the 28th...

What do you think guys ???? As soon as we have a date... I will post this at the Dismeet board also...

to start off this fun discussion about warm weather and comfort food... here is the question for the hour!!! :goodvibes

What is you favorite Picnic Food???

My favorite food is Aunt Annie's potato salad. However, she passed away 20 years ago. She gave 5 of us the recipe, but there was something different in each of the recipes she gave us and none tasted like hers. :lmao: My ex Mother-in-law said it was because she was afraid if we could make it as good as her, we wouldn't invite her to the functions.
Anyway, next favorite picnic food is hot dogs done real, real good on the grill. At this point either weekend works for me. Though in early March it might be a bit nippy. That is better for me as I hate the heat. I haven't owned a warm coat since I turned 50.:thumbsup2
We will bring potato salad and coke. :cool1:
