We are 2nd year season pass holders and spend pretty much every Sunday at WDW, but we usually eat at CS places. For my ds 6 birthday this month, we made reservations at Play and Dine on Hollywood and Vine @ Hollywood Studios. Anyone eaten there? We are a party of 8 so its going to be pretty pricey, want to make sure its worth it! TIA

If you are choosing a Disney character meal, the pricing is about the same, give or take $2 at all of them except the Castle meals. You will not see Mickey, Minnie or any of the traditional characters at this meal. You will see the Playhouse Disney characters (Jo Jo, Leo, Goliath, etc.). If your son loves those characters, go for it. If other characters are more to his liking find another meal.

We did not do this meal, we cancelled because we just weren't up for another full buffet meal. My nephew who was 5 turning 6 at Disney in 2007 loved the PHD characters he met at their dance party in DHS. We did Chef Mickey's as his bday character meal, a great success.

We did not like the food. If you are going on a Sunday morning, what about Cape May breakfast buffet? What could be better than seeing Donald in a swimming suit:rotfl2:

Thanks for the replies. My boys are excited about the PHD characters. I am mostly wondering about the food side of it??
Its pretty much the only character dining open on his birthday. So its here or counter service lol.

We liked the character meal here. My DS3's favorites were Little Einsteins so this was awesome for him. The characters are JoJo and Goliath, and June and Leo from Little Einsteins. We're planning on going again over the summer because he still loves June/Leo. I think the more important reason for going here is because you like these characters, not because you think they have the best food. I've been there for both lunch and breakfast. Both are buffets and both are pretty decent, nothing bad - nothing really fabulous. The characters circulate around fairly quickly. Then have an interactive dancing part where the kids can come to the center and dance with the characters. It's a fun place. But if my boys weren't really into these characters, I would probably have skipped it in favor of another character meal (just like we skip the princess meals).

Does Handy Manny ever come to this one???

No. It's been JoJo/Goliath and June/Leo at this meal for a while now.

You can find Handy Manny in the meet and greet area right outside the PH Disney Live show area. There's 2 areas to meet characters. The Little Einsteins are on one side (Quincy/June rotating with Leo/Annie) and JoJo/Goliath rotating with Handy Manny.

I think you have your answer, enjoy and take lots of photos! :thumbsup2 Your boys won't remember the food, but the character and experience will likely be great memories.
