Just wanted to say hello! I've been reading through previous threads and they've been a huge help-- I've jotted down a bunch of notes! :thumbsup2

After much going back and forth, we decided the intimate was the best way to go for us. I've narrowed it down to two ceremony locations, the YC Wedding Gazebo and Sea Breeze Point. Was wondering what everyone thought of these? I've seen some great pictures from prior posts, but it's really hard to get the "feel" unless you see it in person.

We want to plan for October '07, hopefully the 13th! We'll see

Thanks everyone!

Well I am getting married in March at SBP, so I may be biased, and this is just my opinion....... :goodvibes

I personally chose SBP because I was going for a private and intimate feel. The point is off a main walkway, but kinda seperate, where YC is right smack in the middle of the hotel grounds, if you look at pictures from weddings there the gazebo is right outside the windows of hotel rooms, where SBP has the water as a backdrop, so for what i was going for for my wedding YC was too close to all the surroundings.

Now, if you want your ceremony to be in the open, so passerbys can see you as well, the YC is a great choice.

It is just your personal feelings and what it is you are looking for in your day! Good Luck!! :thumbsup2

Just my 2 cents . . . Seabreeze Pointe was our second choice, we chose WL Sunrise Terrace. We wanted a private Intimate ceremony where other resort guests couldn't just watch our wedding and WL is very private. We also felt that WL was the prettiest choice when we saw it in person, so it was a no-brainer for us. But SBP was definitely second choice if WL hadn't worked out. Your guest list is really limited at WL - I think to 10 people total including bride and groom!

SBP is beautiful! We didn't like the Yacht Club Gazebo mainly for the same reasons TinkBride said - it's right out in the open and people could watch your ceremony from their rooms or just passing by. Some brides like that, though, so it's totally a personal choice.

Another DIS bride gave me this website: http://www.tazfoto.com/webhtml/wdw_locations.htm
and it has amazing pictures of all the locations so that might help! Best Wishes and please keep us posted :goodvibes

WOW!!! :cool1: That is a GREAT link!! :thumbsup2

im also biased but i love the yacht club wedding gazebo. we also debated the yc gazebo & seabreeze point, we liked sbp gazebo style & size but we didnt like how close the walkway was to seabreeze point its on top of the boardwalk & we could hear some music from espn club. we choose the yacht club gazebo for our custom wedding march 21st  for its private setting among roses. its far from the walkway & we didnt notice anyone on their balconies during our wedding, the yc gazebo was intimate & perfect for us.

:thumbsup2 Something to think about it as well, if your ceremony is at YC and you have it in the afternoon during the week, there probably wont be many guests at the hotel because they will all be at the parks......just a thought.....let us know what you decide! :thumbsup2

That is a GREAT link!! Disney should use those pics on their site instead...

Yeah, I know we will definitely go over 10 people, probably 15-18, so that forced me to eliminate some locations! Otherwise I really liked the Sunset Pointe.

Thanks all!

WOW great website.. My fav. besides the WP is the YC gazebo

We chose SBP because we also didn't like the hotel looky-loo feeling of YC, but as an SBP bride, my experience was that the walkway in front of SBP was MUCH busier than the walkway around YC. YC feels far more private to me. We just didn't care for the location, because we knew it would be hot and I didn't want my guests to have to sit outside in the sun, and we didn't want to cram our wedding party under the gazebo roof. It is very suited for an intimate wedding.

I can't tell you how many photos we have that show people that just stopped in the middle of the walkway and watched our wedding. We had to ask one guy to go across the walkway to stand because he was standing in my way before I walked up to see my husband to start the ceremony. He's in the background of some of my ceremony photos and in my video. It was a little annoying. Please people, be a little respectful! Duh! :sad2:

Anyway, even as a Disney guest now, we walk past SBP on our way to Epcot far more than over to the YC. If privacy is your main objective, you may not get much of it at SBP depending upon your ceremony day and time.

We did love SBP, though, and other than a few rude people, it was beautiful. I would do it there again in a heartbeat. They certainly didn't ruin our day! :cloud9:

I am absolutely in love with SBP and highly recommend it, but it's certainly not remotely private. We had a *huge* audience of onlookers on the boardwalk (an evening wedding, at about 6), but that didn't bother me in the least. In fact, I have to admit to liking the attention! The little lawn area keeps them separated from the wedding.

We had about 45 guests, and I love that the guests are inside the gazebo with you.

I debated SBP and YCG for awhile too. I chose SBP b/c I like how it's on the water. I always dreamed of getting married on a beach or boardwalk, so being on the water was a must. Also, as other posters have mentioned, all your guests are under cover at SBP. This was very important to me b/c we have a few elderly guests and we are getting married in June. We wanted our guests to be as cool as possible for an outdoor ceremony. I also like how all of your guests are right there with you, instead of outside the gazebo like YCG.

Best of luck in your decision :)

Well...I am a Sea Breeze Point bride! I wanted a "beach theme" wedding, so I picked it because it was on the water and has a relaxed feeling to it. Also, when I talked to my wedding planner I was given the explanation of the "good & bad" for each location. The difference with the gazebo is the bride & groom are in the gazebo and the guests are further away and set back. This means the guests will not be able to hear the ceremony as easily or well. At SBP, the guests are right there sitting at your feet pretty much. Also, the guests are covered at SBP...in case of rain, etc. The bride & groom will be covered at the YC gazebo, but not the guests....so they will be out in the weather conditions. You are getting married in Oct, so heat and rain won't be a huge concern. We got married in June and there is no way the YC gazebo would have worked with afternoon showers and the sun beating down. Our guests barely made it covered under the SBP gazebo.

Hi Fairy_Tale_Bride,

I actually chose the YC Gazebo, but you bring up a good point! I am so worried about bad weather...rain mainly. Was SBP completely covered in the event that it rains? I would hate to move in doors to a convention center room when the beauty is the water and the boardwalk itself!!

Just up the road from you in Chapel Hill, NC!! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

I don't know if anyone would agree with me or not, but it seems the evening is the busiest time at the Boardwalk. Many people begin walking over to Epcot to eat dinner, and many people are eating at the Boardwalk. When we've seen SBP weddings in the past, it seems like morning and early afternoon are the least busy traffic times. We were married at 4:30 and it was average busy.

We were told there was no chance the ceremony would even happen at SBP if it rained. The call to move to an indoor location is usually made within hours, not minutes of the ceremony depending upon the weather. Depending upon the time of year you are married, there is a very real chance you may endure an afternoon thunderstorm per typical FL weather, so be prepared. We specifically chose our time of year to lessen that likelihood.

I don't know about other brides, but we weren't given an option to let our guests potentially get wet or not. We would be going to a BW ballroom. Luckily the rain held off until after we arrived in our Garden Suite that night! :wizard:

All I can tell you about weather concerns is what DH told me when we were agonizing over "outside or inside?" Pick a direction and go with it. Know that no matter what happens with the weather on your wedding day, you are simply going to be too happy to be getting married to care that much! :cloud9:

We decided on SBP for our VR this November. We will only have a handful of wedding guests and liked how at SBP we would be close together and underneath the cover in the shade :) From what I've seen of pictures of different ceremonies at SBP it seems that quite a few pictures are taken with the water in the background. Opposed to the room balconies at the YC. And I like the idea of having the water in the background.

We are discussing these two locations as well. I don't like to see the hotel at YC in all the pics of the B&G, where I like to see the water and the YC in the distance from SBP. I want SBP or Epcot, so I guess I am looking at outdoor locations either way --- hopefully it won't rain! I want a morning ceremony -- what time do they start at SBP?

Our consultant told us the weddings at SBP start at 9:00 a.m. -- I don't know if it varies by season or if it depends on if you are having a Intimate vs. Custom Wedding (ours will be an Intimate VR). She also offered us 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Thank you! I think int/cust are on different hours but at least I know I can have a morning ceremony. I originally wanted Epcot in the am, but now we are compromising! I just want it early before it gets too, too hot!

SBP is completely covered and they will let you continue the ceremony outside in case of rain. YC Gazebo will not, so being a June wedding...I didn't want to chance it!

I've been to Chapel Hill a few times. I had many friends graduate from UNC! :)
