Hi, after reading everything I can on this site over the last couple of weeks its time to start asking all those daft questions!

First of all a big thank you to the people that have contributed so much quality info, its been a big help.

We have taken the plunge and booked 3 nights/4 days at Easter flying from Manchester. This will be our first time at DLP. We have booked the flights independent as they were better times than those offered by Air France. We should land at CDG T1 at 13.10hrs.

So we plan to travel on by TGV. There is a train shown as leaving at 13.52hrs, is 42 minutes a bit optimistic to get our bags and make it over to T2?

If we did book for this train and missed it can we just catch the next one using the same ticket or is there an additional cost?

This is just the start I have loads more to ask but I will spread it out!!!!!

deep joy,

Kip

Hi Kipster,
Elaine, Jackie, Elaine and Reid welcome you to the DLP DIS board :)

We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here

As far as I'm aware, yes, you can use your pre-purchased ticket to catch the next TGV train, if you miss the one you are booked on. I believe theres also an option with the TGV to book a flexible ticket.
If you're arriving at T1, and your plane lands on time, you'll more than likely be out of baggage claim and the T1 exit by around 13.30. The CDGval internal train between terminals runs every 5-10 minutes or so, T1 is furthest from T2, and the journey takes around 10 minutes between those 2 terminals. You then have to go from the CDGval station at T2 to the TGV station at T2, which involves taking a life or the escalators 2 floors down.

You might make the 13.52 :) - hopefully you'll land a little early and that will give you ample time to make it.

Thanks for the welcome and fast reply.

I feel I could probably make it dependent on the baggage coming off fast. With 3 months to get it sorted I may explore the other options but the fact its only 10mins on the train is a big plus for me,

deep joy,

Kip

Is there any way you could take hand luggage only on the way there as this would save you time.

We managed it for a 3 day trip but meant we had to travel light.

hi there, i arrived on sunday; the plane touched down at 8.10, we got off the plane at 8.25, my bag arrived 6 minutes later and it took 14 minutes to walk to the TGV station. bit of a snag because the ticket machine would not recognise my mastercard and there was a HUGE queue in the TGV office for mainline services but I managed to convince a reluctant counter member at the desserted Paris and Suburbs counter that even though it was on a mainline train I was really only going to a Paris suburb (actually, he just thought i was a crazy anglo chick who did not understand the rules or french, so he gave me my ticket to make me go away) and I caught the 8.58am train and arrived at the park at 9.10. SO, in answer to your question, at least first thing in the morning, yes, you can make a connection in 42 minutes. but if there are any delays at any part of the chain, it will not work. its a long walk through the terminal to the train station - and i had to walk 5 minutes down the platform to my part of the train too. as insurance, i bought the slightly more expensive ticket which allowed me to catch the earlier or later train if needed (it cost an extra 1.6 euros and i thought it was worth it for the peace of mind. however in the event, no one even checked my ticket so it was not necessary.

Thanks for the replies.

I would love to travel light but with my six year old thats not an option :)

Emmah, thats just what I needed to know, thanks for taking the time to post it. Looking at the train times if we miss the one at 15.52 the next one is not until 15.42 (seems a bit of a wait but it will be a Sunday) so it looks like we might go for a taxi,

deep joy,

Kip
