We're going to be in Orlando the first week in October. Are they doing HHN then? I know nothing about it - what should I know? Are the tickets extra, like for MNSSHP? What are they like?

Thanks!

HHN is staged Thursday through Sunday nights at the Studios so it will be available while you're visiting. HHN is a hard ticket event...just like MNSSHP but there is a difference most people don't realize. At Disney, you can stay in the park before the event but not at Universal. They do a park sweep and the park actually closes and then reopens for HHN.

You should check YouTube for event videos but there is not much available this time of year. HHN details are released during the summer.

Ticket prices are pretty steep for the general public. I think they were around $90 last year but discounts are available for FL residents, passholders and folks who have their park tickets and want to add on HHN for a night. I expect ticket prices to be the same or more this year...they never go down.

Keep checking back and as details are released, we'll post threads on the board.

It should take place Sunday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights that week.

It's often been voted the best Halloween event in the country. It's certainly been one of the best consistently for over a decade. The event changes every year, but you can be certain the most popular rides will be open and there will be around 7 or 8 highly themed haunted houses/"mazes" to walk through--they can be terrifying, I've seen grown men scream and women break down in tears. In addition, there are "scareactors," performers in costume trying to scare you along walkways throughout the park, sometimes even in shops and restaurants. There are also event-specific shows--one, Bill & Ted's Halloween Adventure, is an annual comedy show with a pretty large cult following. There are a lot of videos on YouTube if you want to get more of a feel for the event.

HHN IS NOT FOR CHILDREN. It's gory and frightening, with a ton of sexual innuendo and alcohol for sale every 100 feet. There's a continuing debate about what the minimum age to bring a child should be--I've rarely seen anyone argue under 13, I would go as high as 18 personally. BTW, costumes are not allowed.

This is a separtely ticketed event, like Mickey's Not So Scary. (Ticket prices are the only times these two events should be mentioned in the same sentence.) Prices vary depending on the day of the week, and there are all sorts of discounts available, but figure the $45 - $80 range. Multiday tickets area available and offer a huge savings.

Thanks. I don't mind being a little scared, but reduced to tears is not for me. How would I be able to find out which houses to avoid?

You'll have to wait until opening weekend and after reviews of people who went. I will be there that night but since the houses are new every year, no one can tell you which ones to avoid...yet.

There will be reviews on this board by folks who have attended once hhn begins at the end of september. that would give you a bit of an idea what each house is like but what freaks out one person may not scare you at all and vice versa. Be aware that last year they had traveling scare zones as well, some are scarier than others but they get close at times and the costumes and makeup can be really authentic. Avoiding specific houses doesn't protect you from all the scary elements necessarily. It can be intense but its also mostly fun if you love a good scare and a very creepy halloween atmosphere.

You shouldn't avoid doing any of the houses,if you're someone who's never experienced any kind of Halloween event or haunted house then it might be something that might shock you at first but since you go throughthe houses conga line style youll always have your friends family and other park goers by you and it can actually be fun seeing other people freak out when a scareactor jumps out at them.Like I said for me the event is scary funny,of course there are people who truly get very scared but for most people no house is that much scarier than another one to avoid doing it.One thing to remember is lines get very long so unless you plan on buying the express pass make sure you're doing stay and scream so you can get several of the houses done early before the waits get long, otherwise you won't have time to do all the houses and shows.

Hey! I had my first HHN experience last year! It was the first year they scared people everywhere and there where no safezones. I am more than a chicken I don't like watching scary movies because I have nightmares all week (I am 24 years old!!) but I went there because my boyfriend wanted to go so bad as we in Italy have nothing else to compared it to. I must say I had fun even though I was so nervous before entering the park and throughout the first house (I just thought I wanted to home and wanted to cry) but seriously after the second half of the first house I started to scream and laughed. By then I enjoyed the event a lot! I enjoyed so much that I want to go back on 2014! If you laugh when they scare you they'll just leave you alone, just keep in mind they are actors and this is their job.
We used the stay and scream package, which made the ticket cheaper, this ticket consists on buying a park day ticket (US or IoA) and then you can get also early entry to the event (they have a hold area just for this guests).
Another thing I found out is that nights like Thursday the park has lighter crowds. We bought the express pass, which gives you ONE entry per house on a express pass line, because my boyfriend suffers of people anxiety. Although it wasn't cheap it was worth the money. We used the express pass for the houses but you can also use them in the rides (which we didn't need it as there where NO CROWDS at the rides)!

If you stay on site, do you get the early entry? I already have park tickets, so I don't want to have to buy another one, along with the HHN ticket. Thanks.

Yes...you may enter at 5:30PM through one of the marked entrances at the Studio gates.

Hi All, :wave2:

Sorry if this is posted somewhere else....when do the tickets go on sale? Or where can I find general information on the tickets for HHN and deals? We may be interested in going to a park on the same and then also going to HHN.

We are staying at Disney on our Orlando trip this year as DS will be in the Disney College Program.

Thanks!
