HHN + $79 Hotel Offer?

I keep seeing that new commercial with the Caretaker (or whatever his name is, aslong as it isn't Jack), where they introduce him and the IOF concept. At the end of the commercial, they add on a little bit about a $79 offer for one of the hotels.

My questions are: What hotel do they speak of? What are the catches (per person, per night? a minumum of some sort? ect?)? Is this the same as the Gory Getaway thing?

The commercial says that the price does not include the HHN ticket price, but is that a fancy way of saying "Your still going to pay for the ticket if you go with this offer, we're just deducting it's cost to make the package look better".

I only ask this because I am a (new) AP holder, and would assume my guest and I could get some kind of discount using my AP card (a discount that would then not count if I bought a packaged deal).

One more question from Mr. Alot Of Questions: I don't keep up with the rates at the Universal Resort hotels cause I have yet to have the opportunity to stay at one. If someone could please give me a quick over view of what the average cost is to stay at, say, the Hard Rock. I also remeber an special offer of some sort a while back ($99 something or other). Is that still going on?

Of course, this is all assuming I go to HHN this year, so what are the chances of availability that month?

Thanks for everything.

Well, I don't live in the Orlando area, so I couldn't tell you what Central Florida stations plays it. I only have broadcast TV, so it must be on one of the networks. Most likely, The WB.

I normally catch it when I'm not really watching TV (just have it on). I'd be a hard commercial to spot if your not paying attention, because it i very quite, and I'm not even sure if thee are any spoken words until the hotel offer segemnt. It's also in black & white.

Thats about all I know.

I havent seen the commercial. Could be an off-site Universal sponsered property? If it was on-site most likely was a pp rate.
Try and catch that commercial again!

I know you can get a $99 rate if available at RPR entertainment rate. $150 PBH (not sure what hard rock rate is)
Entertainment rate would be the best discount then you could check AP rates and Fan Club rates
Discover Card ofteb runs specials.
Try Expedia and hotelkingdom as well.
From my recent searches I find it very interesting that Portofino can be found to have lower rates and greater specials than Hard Rock. Hard Rock must be that much more in demand. Universal's website also has a hot deals link. If you live in Florida I remember seeing specials on the Fan Club site as well as florida residents link on Universals website. You may have a hard time finding available discounts however for peak times including HHN.

Good Luck:)

Thanks for the help.

I went on the Universal site (as maybe I should have done from the beginning), and found out the $79 rate was for the Royal Pacific. There were special prices fro the other two, at slight increments.

I would go for the RPR, but the person I'm going with wants Hard Rock (she really likes their pools I guess). I would love to do Portfino, but I'm saving that one for that week long get away in the (hopefully) near future.

Like I said, I checked the site, and there seem to be some good offers, I just wish I knew what the regular rates are so I can compare. I'm going to have to do some serious math to compare the Florida Residents deal to the Gory Getaway deal to the Resident/Gory Getaway, to the AP discount to the... then I'll have to figure out if I should by the HHN tickets as a hotel package, or seperatly with the AP discount, or stay and scream or... you get the idea.

This was the typical type of math I used to end up doing around Horror Nights time in order to convince my family to go. I thought those days were behind me, but I guess not.

Thanks again for everything.

Kevin,
I don't know if it helps...but I'm pretty sure you can use the other resorts pools no problem if you're staying at any one of them...someone correct me if I'm wrong though!

Don't know if that would make a difference or what, but I know if it comes down to money, it might! Those resorts aren't cheap! ;)

It's funny about the math...you would think it would get better, but it only gets worse, especially when you then also have to PAY the money, not just justify it! :jester:

Good luck!

OH! I forgot to ask...Could you please point me in the direction to that $79.00 rate? Was that a pp rate or per room?

Thank You

While I don't know about this particular offer, I do know from experience with Universal's promotions they are always per person per night, usually with a minimum stay required. I would almost guarantee how this offer works. Just be careful that you get the straight story before you get too excited about that rate.

Kevin -

I think you should review the post at the top of the Boards - "What is your date and Rate?" to get an idea of some of the special rates that may be available. Then do the math - when we went in August, I had originally booked the HRH $129 per person per night, including 2 adult tix. But, after doing the math, I realized I saved a few hundred dollars by buying the Ent. Book and booking that rate. It really depends on what is available on the dates you're going, but a little bit of research can pay off!

Thanks guys.

At first, it was just her wanting to stay at the Hard Rock (I wanted the Portofino; this was before the Roayl Pacific opened), but last Sunay, after seeing Kong away, I went over and checked out the HRH, and now I'm the on who wants to stay there! As any typical man, I use her as an excuse to justify my wants and needs. ;)

If you go to this link and put in the appropriate information ('Orlando', 'Park tickets, Hotel') into the litle moving bar at the right, incluing the "Departure Date" (in order to indicate October and HHN) even if your not flying in, it will take you to a page that has all the HHN/October deals, including Gory and Gruesome Getaway and the Flroda resident's version of the same. It also lists other October deals that could be helpful.

I always assumed it would be per person, per night, but $79 was so low, I thought maybe there'd be some other catch (per person, per night, per toe?), like you had to buy Day Passes and HHN tickets through the hotel, or there was a minumum nights you had to stay, or some thing to the effect.

Thanks for the advice on the "What is your date and rate" post. I guess I was so caught up trying to figure out what this ambigious commercial meant by $79 I didn't think about checking the boards for other deals.

Thanks again guys.

-Kevin
