Last night DH and I went and a friend joined us. And this was her first HHN experience. :cool1:
We arrived early due to having to pick up passes, etc. (And we all are have PAPs.)
Once the typical ticket line standing was out of the way we entered and wandered around a little. I bought this years limited edition HHN pin also. (And a heavy one at that!)
Soon after we ate at the Irish pub themed restaurant. The service has always been good and the food is much better than one would expect at a theme park. We have eaten there several times and always have had good experiences. The prices are good too, esp with the PAP discount.
By pure chance we were gifted Express Passes last night. :cheer2:  :cool1: Know someone, who knows someone, etc. We certainly were not expecting that. It was pure unplanned magic that someone offered and we jumped on! :cloud9:
So last night was our first Express HNN. :wizard:
And did that make the evening STRESS FREE. Since DH and I will attend several times this year, we were not concerned. But it was great for our friend who was a HHN newbie and only planned that one night this year.
We did it all last night except Bill & Ted's. And we could have done that too, but left once everything else was completed.
My favorite haunted house was Dead Silence.
The other two liked Psychoscareapy.
The Thing just had me scratching my head on why others thought it was so good. :confused3
Us two gals did not care for Jack's Carnival of Carnage. ANd I think each time it is the same show.
Last years show was MUCH better. No comparison. I really liked that the characters came in to the crowd for photo ops. Not to mention that was amoney maker for USO since they had their photographers snapping photos last year too.
The Freak Show was not as we expected. It was okay. I don't know if it is a different show each time.
The scare zone is short and nothing great. Too short and under themed.
There were characters around The Mummy area, like last year.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show was VERY good. :thumbsup2
The glow carts were not as plentiful as in the past and did not offer a good variety either.
There were no characters along Redeo Dr., as they have had in the past years.
We shopped. We ate. We snacked. We had a good time overall. I can see where last year and even the previous years was better though.
But most (and us) mainly go for the haunted houses. And they do a wonderful job with those.
Certainly worth going to!
I few photos I snapped last night:

Notice the Hidden Mickey? One side entrance into the scare zone.

We saw an act on this stage only once last night:

Neat pictures.
Awhile back I suggested they have a stage with half naked men writhing around in their skimpy little speedos for us gals, but I guess budget didn't allow for it. ;) just kidding!

DD and I got some free express passes last year too (after we tried to buy them at GS and they were sold out. the lady just went ahead and gave us some she printed out. God bless her! I bought them early this year though) we can't wait for Oct. 18th! hope its better than last years HHN's

Well the men come close to that in the Rocky Horror Tribute. As long as you like your men in women's under garments. :lmao:

Another positive to mention as we stayed until after 11:00 and saw no noticeable drunks. (As in obnoxious, or at/near the puking stage.)
Normally many, many young adults are so drunk they can barely stand by 9:00 p.m.
Alcohol was sold more plentiful than ever, and that is saying a lot. But the obvious drunks were not anything like I have witnessed in the past HHN.

LOL!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: Poor Mickey must've been confused, drugged or mugged when he escaped the Not-So-Scary party back home! :rotfl: They turned him on his head, huh?

I saw some warped tributes last night to Disney. :lmao:
Several times Jack mentioned Disney themes in his Carnival of Carnage.
And until last night I had forgotten about Columbia in the Rocky Horror Picture Show wearing Mickey ears when she is in her PJs.

Men in ladies undergarments? well, at least thats something. maybe I'll just stand there with a beer in hand and get an eye-full. :lmao:

Well, there is bleached blond Rocky wearing a gold lame bikini type bottom. :lmao: Maybe he is more your type. :confused3 :rotfl: Drink your jello shot and sit in the front row. :rotfl2:

eww. actually, I'm one of those who really isn't into the whole "skin" show. I prefer they have more scare zones with scarey monsters and such. (although that description does sound scarey!) I was only kidding about looking at half naked guys because I don't see the point of having girls in cages like some strip show. it makes it all seem so so perverted in a weird kind of way. but, I realize alot of people like that sort of stuff. its just not my thing.. and I don't drink alcohol either. never really cared for it. the hardest thing I ever drink is a diet coke. :) nothing against people who do that sort of thing, but its just not my style. :)

:thumbsup2 You and I think along the same lines. I know right where you are coming from. :)
I am showing my age when I say I use to go see RHPS at the theatres at midnight. :rotfl: And yes, I own the video....
 <-- Let's Do the Time Warp again....
:rotfl2:

I don't have the video, but I was at a few midnight showings back in the day a well!

Thanks for the review, we're going on the 31st and are really looking forward to it.

I wonder if they still play that song in the Monsters cafe? :)

I was thinking then what they should have been showing on the globes in the loagoon was the RHPS. That would go along well with their tribute and be something worth watching. That could even create some self crowd interaction.

No, I tried to watch the rocky horror movie but I just couldn't get into it. :confused3 I do like Tim Curry though. (but not as a transvestite.)
You can't experience RHPS unless you see it in the theater for a midnight showing. I have the anniversary edition DVD but it's not the same watching it at home.

On the other hand it is hard to get the idea of what the movie is in a theatre between people yelling constantly, objects being thrown, lights, etc. :thumbsup2

That's the whole idea...audience participation.
