I was intereasted in trying HH next summer. My husband feels that if you don't golf, which we don't, it would be boring. Any opinions.

I tried to do a search on the topic but it never works for me, so sorry if this has been asked already.

Thanks

We have gone yearly since our youngest was 17 months. Our oldest was 5 at the time.

We don't golf and have never been bored. The kids love the beach and the pools. We always rent bikes. When our youngest was little, we would use one of the trailer type units to pull him along in to the beach. A great spot for a mid-morning or afternoon nap. It's an easy ride and our oldest has done it every year without any problems (other than broken down bikes so now we always carry a cell phone with us). The ride to and from the beach is smooth on a paved surface.

The kids love to crab fish off the pier at the resort. Some people catch and cook their crabs, we've always let them go. One year, our oldest caught a diamond backed turtle in his net. Great to see, but the turtle was not too happy to be on display for everyone!

We love WDW, but as my DH always says, HH is our time to kick back and relax. We cook most dinners in our villa and actually prefer to cook over go out.

Our children (and us :teeth: ) have never been bored. July can't get here soon enough for us!

If you decide to go, have a great trip! :cheer2:

We have been twice when our girls were 7 and 3, and 8 and 4. We absolutely love HH. There is a ton for the kids to do. The beach, the pool, games around the pool, arts and crafts, dolphin tours, bikes, etc.

We went last summer when our daughter was 4, and we truly enjoyed it. As cgcw said, it's a time to kick back and relax. No, it's not an every moment planned trip like WDW, but that's part of its appeal--you really feel as if you're on vacation. Naturally, there is the beach which is approx. 1.5 miles away from the main Disney HHI resort, but the bike/walking/running path is paved as mentioned, and it crosses under the busy thoroughfare that is the main drag into HH. You can also drive to the beach or take a free shuttle from the resort itself. We drove and it's all of 5 minutes from door to beach.

At the beach, you'll find a separate Disney complex which is their version of a huge beach house. The Disney beach house has its own pool, a grill/snack bar, an activities room, a game room, and a pool bar. It also has shower facilities and towels you can use on the beach. They don't rent beach chairs or umbrellas, but the lifeguards on the beach do, though I think they run something like $20-$25 a day. We didn't rent any, preferring to head back to the beach house after an hour or two on the sand for a burger and the pool.

Back at the main resort, there is a large pool with a slide, a hot tub, an activities center, and a mercantile among other things. When you check in, you'll get a listing of all the activities going on that week--some are free and some require a modest fee. You can fish from the pier, go crabbing, go kayaking, do crafts, paint, and a whole lot more. Most nights, there is a bonfire with singing and sumores which the kids love. And if you want, there are a couple of playground areas with slides, swings, etc.

You can cook in your room or you can go out to eat. There are lots of great places to dine in HH, and you get a listing of many of them when you check in. Or just ask the CMs who will tell you the best places. So, yes there is plenty to do. . .just don't expect the WDW fever pitch of excitement. It's the low country beach with just a touch of Disney magic. :thumbsup2
