Looking for some new adventures while at HH DVC this summer. We will ride to the beach, the "mall" (pitiful as it may be), Shelter Cove & the pizza place at the shopping center. Any other cycling destinations - kids are 9-14?:moped:

Although we haven't done it yet, it looks like it would be fun to bike up to the miniature golf place (is it called Adventure Golf?) right by IHOP.

My wife and I rode our bikes up to that miniature golf course. It was a great little trip on the bike path all the way there. We don't ride bicycles a lot, so we were getting a little saddle sore. It was a nice way to pass the time before we hopped back on the bikes and headed back to the resort.

If you feel really adventurous some day, bike to Sea Pines. There are miles and miles of great paved bike trails within that plantation and some nice historical spots to visit- best accessed by bike.

Near Lawton Stables are some indian mounds of oyster shells. They are back in a wooded area. Very interesting ride.

Also of interest is a ruins of an old plantation. The foundation of the main building and kitchen remain. The foundation was made from tabby- a conglomerate made of sand and seashells that was used for many years as a concrete type of construction material.

The ride into these areas is very pleasant, but it is a good ways from the resort.

Maps of the bike trails on the island are available.

Enjoy!

I can't be certain about this because my memory is already a little bit clouded, but it seems like I remember some notation on some information that they gave us that said that bike trails in the Sea Pines area were private and not supposed to be used by those who weren't guests there. I could be wrong though. I don't know how they would police such a thing even if it were true.

You know, now that you mention it, I think I remember that too. It seems Brian (the former naturalist) told me that sometimes you can ride your bike on the beach into Sea Pines. But we wanted to bike to the Forest Preserve in Sea Pines, and it seems we couldn't.
