Okay, now I get why DISboarders have RAVED about HHI. It was our first trip there and now we can't wait to go back. We could have stayed another week- although we did get out just in time before the rain. We had gorgeous weather.
In the 2BDR was me, DH, DD5 and DS2 along with my mom and dad. My brother and sister in law had the studio next door.
Trip highlights:
The room of course!! It was huge and beautiful. We were in 3013, which we loved b/c it was at the end of the resort (very private) but still on the parking lot for convenience.
The service!! Cast members went above and beyond for us this trip. Besides remembering all of our names, continually asking what they could do for us... Connie found the PERFECT ladies southern tea house for us in Savannah. She called her daughter who is a pharmaceutical rep. there to find out just where to go. Mom and I had a wonderful afternoon with just the two of us. I can't even remember when we last went to lunch together without the kids! When my parents' car battery was dead after the Shrimp Boil, castmembers called around to find out who on the island was the best to take their car to and when they opened. My brother left a DVD in the player and they went so far as to FED EX it back to us. We really felt like they treated us like VIPs the whole time, as I'm sure many others received stellar treatment too.
Loved the Beach House, riding bikes to and from- taking a pre-sunrise bike ride over to the beach and watching the sun come up. I loved letting DD ride her bike around the resort, and not feeling panicked about whether or not she was "okay".
Tuesday we grilled at the picnic area near bldg. 31. After our sunset BBQ, we pulled the chairs down to the edge of the water (where the kayaks are stored) and watched the fireworks. We were the only ones there and felt like the display was just for us.
DB and SIL went on the resort's advertised shark fishing and had an absolute blast- they were the only ones on the boat. If you go ask for Kyle. They caught a bunch of sharks. Interesting note- if you catch a "keeper", you don't really keep it, the capt. just measures it and a fiberglass replica is sent to you.
Had an amazing dinner at Scott's Fish Market. We also really enjoyed the Shrimp Boil. I have to admit, it was a lot better than I expected. The food was actually really good and very well prepared. We had a great table overlooking the walkout to the beach so we could see the ocean as we ate. Great atmosphere. One of the cast members was so sweet, she brought a huge bowl of shrimp over to my husband so he didn't have to get back up. Like I said before, the awesome service we got makes us feel like it was all money well spent.
We had such a great time and everyone was so impressed with the resort that DB and SIL are going to buy into DVC. We smiled and said, don't forget to mention our names- we'll use the $200 on the next trip.
