Hi,

Well I'm dreaming - daydreaming - of more DVC points. It's nice to dream, isn't it? I love HHI. However, I think I remember hearing about some extra payment because the resale is in South Carolina. Did I dream that? ;)

Also, thoughts on HHI contracts in general. I guess I'm a tad nervous about DVC letting it go one day. Is that possible? I guess anything is. Thinking outloud - as usual. :rotfl:

My first couple of choices for resale would be more BWV points, VWL, AKV and HHI.

But curious if resort preference wasn't an issue with buying more points - where would you buy points just for points sake? and why?

You should buy points at the resort you would like to stay in. I love:love: HHI and recently added on so I can take advantage of the 11 month booking window for the summer. We also have points at AKV.

I know there's no etra payment. How do I know? Because just a few days ago, we put in a bid on a 50 point HHI contract. It just went to Disney for ROFR. Prices for resales at HHI are pretty low. However, I really agree with the PP-buy where you want to stay-and we did do this since we love to spend Thanksgiving at HHI (actually we'd love any time there). I can't see Disney letting the resort go to someone else-that didn't even cross my mind.

i know TTS charges slightly higher closing costs for HHI ($400 rather than $322 or whatever for a small contract) - i believe that's because it's outside of FL. that's all i can think of...

it's possible. if DVC spun off any of their resorts, certainly HHI and VB would be the most likely candidates. not a huge risk, though, IMO. (i would worry more about hurricanes...but that's just me...)

OKW since it's onsite at wdw, resales are fairly cheap for the 2042 contracts and has relatively low dues. if i were younger, SSR might be be preferable, but i do like that DTD parkers can't walk over and share buses at OKW as easily as at SSR.

I owned at HHI and sold those points. It's a lovely resort, but as much as I love HH itself, that resort never did it for me. Closing costs are higher due to higher fees in SC for real estate transactions.

There is a risk there due to the hurricanes that you could get hit with a special assessment. I would think not since Disney has good reserves etc, but it's out there.

If cost wasn't an issue.... I would buy at BCV! It's hard to get at 7 months and I love being able to walk to Epcot. Second choice AKV. IMHO its the most unique.

That's it Carol. Thanks. I knew I read something somewhere.

Well,

I"m merely dreaming of an add-on. Really dreaming.

But that's how I got our first two contracts. Dreamt and dreamt until the money appeared ten years into the dreaming phase.

Thanks everyone - love reading everyone's thoughts.

Oh geez. You just reminded me of how much I love OKW. I guess that's my problem, not really a problem, I just love too many DVC resorts.

Hey congrats to you both. That's wonderful. I so  HH.

Simba's Mom - I always love hearing about your stays.

Thanks so much. Our last stay was especially "exciting". But we're looking forward to going back next year. I was so desperate I even tried for a 2 BR when I called today-No luck! Hopefully that will change soon.
chalee94-now I'm wondering. TTS told me that our closing costs would be $322 for this contract. I hoe that's what it is. It's even on our contract as that amount, so I'm hoping that's what it is, I'm not sure it can be changed from what's on the contract.

maybe something has changed? i don't know. i'm just on their email list and always noticed that the small HHI contracts had higher closing costs...

I specifically spoke with TSS on closing costs for HHI for a 50 pts. contract. I was told it would be approx. in the low $400's. So, I would definitely call back TSS for an exact amount. Because it is in SC, closings are higher, but not much. Depending on which broker you use, TSS closing co. is much cheaper for HHI than another who shall rename nameless! However, their fees were hundreds of dollars more!:confused3 Oh, they can and do adjust closing costs....Laxmon can tell you about that!
