We leave July 4th for HHI and there are just a few unanswered questions that I could not locate answers to and was asked by my family to find out. Here goes....

DH and DS6 and another father son pair want to do a fishing excursion. Any recommendations on charters?

Do any of the restaurants in the area require reservations? How far in advance do you think they will need to be made for a party of 10?

Is there any sort of "night life" for adults? (we will have babysitters with us) What do you recommend for couples to do to take a break from kids for an evening (yes, alcohol is ok).

Like some of the other DVC resorts, can DVDs be "rented" from the resort or do we need to bring our own?

I think that's it for now!! TIA for your help!

Ok ok, lets see.

Yes you can rent dvd's and there's a blockbuster down the street, too.

As for nightlife, I'm thinking dinner and a movie. Or you could bum around Harbortown, but I don't think there's much more then that.

We've called ahead to places, but I don't know about reservations. With a party that big, I'd start calling about 4-4:30.

Dont know about fishing, but you'll get stuff when you check in.

Also, we learned the hard way that everyplace blastes the AC so bring jackets to dinner.

We are here now. Will be leaving tomorrow.:sad2: First, you can get movies here at the resort. Also, I'm not sure what you're looking for as for the fishing excursions, but we have a paper that came with our folder that lists fishing excursions at $450. for 1-6 people. Trips leave daily and last three and a half hours. Species vary by season. Please inquire for current catches.

Hope this helps. Have fun.

The upscale restaurants require reservations but a large party of 10 would warrant a call ahead to any of those restaurants who don't take reservations. Just warn the staff in the early afternoon or day prior and they will usually accommodate such a group once you arrive. Marker 13 at The Boat House is good fun for a big family.

For adults I would recommend Santa Fe Cafe and their rooftop cantina for dinner and drinks. Alexander's, The Jazz Corner (surprisingly good food) or Sunset Grille are all good choices too. Live music at The XO lounge across the street from DVC at The Hilton Resort is worth a look.

Fishing is good this time of year but I would check with the harbour master or each charter capt to see what they are catching.

Blockbuster on the north end just closed and I believe the south end is soon to follow.

If you could be there early on the 4th of July they have alot going on at the resort. The 4th is a fun time at HH.

and you can get a restaurants.com gift certificate. We were there on Tuesday. Great food and not very crowded. Highly recommended.

And many of those that don't normally do reservations will for larger groups and often for the concierge regardless. I'd recommend reservations for anywhere you want that accept them including early bird times. You might be OK for some of the times but no reason to take a chance. We were told 1 hr 45 minutes earlier this week at Wild Wings. Ended up being only about 30 minutes when we told them outside was OK.
