Thanks everyone
I worked there for two years and didn't find them all that bad; however, others have a different experience. It wouldn't hurt to use some repellent if you're sitting outside in the shade of your balcony, but if you're on the move or at the pool, I'd not worry too much about it. Same goes with the Beach House. How bad are the mosquitoes in August? I am a magnet and just wondering if I need my repellant on around the resort. Thanks!
The beach house has a water fountain and water bottle refill station near the entrance closest to the elevator but since the Beach House closes at 8 pm you would lose access at that point. How about plain old water refill stations for those of us who aren't interested in refillable mugs? Are there stations at both the resort and beach house that are accessible 24/7?
We do that at home because we have delicious well water but when traveling we can be “water snobs!”Call me crazy but we use the kitchen sink for filling up our water bottles.
Building 28 has elevator accessible 2BRs as of a few months ago, but that's the only building with 2BRs that has such access. There are no 2BRs in Bldgs 11 or 12 which have always had the elevator. That being said, half the 2BRs at the resort are on the bottom floor of each building, and the number of steps up to those range from 10-12 steps. Is there any part of the resort you'd like to be closer to such as the pool or the main lodge? It's a small resort, so it's a short walk to pretty much anywhere on property; however, some like to be close to Tide Me Over/Big Dipper Pool; others prefer closer to the main lodge and the shuttle to the beach. What are your desires?Staying in a 2 bedroom in October. I'm not sure what to request from MS. Our niece and nephew do have a special needs kid, but she's still small, so they said they didn't need HA. But I think an elevator would be helpful to them. Any suggestions on what to request?
Thanks for the reply! As I think about it, we're probably more likely to want to be closer to the pool and TMO.Is there any part of the resort you'd like to be closer to such as the pool or the main lodge? The closest would be 24, 23, 25, 26, and 27. 24 sits right next to a pool entrance and also the ramp that leads up to TMO. 23's, 25's, and 26's balconies overlook the pool (though 25 has obstructed views due to the pool slide) and each building sits near entrances to the pool. 27 has marsh views (as does 24) and is mere steps from the pool and TMO. That being said, a few other buildings are almost as close: 20, 21, 28, and 29. Frankly, no building is more than a 5-7 minute walk from the pool area. There is a map of the resort on Page 1 that will show you the exact locations of the buildings. Thanks for the reply! I usually email the CM at WDW resorts and that has worked, do you typically email preferences at HHI? I was thinking about asking for building 28 specifically, but any other near the pool would be okay as well. There is a map of the resort on Page 1 that will show you the exact locations of the buildings.![]()
We did the chat with Member Services and they passed everything on to HHI and had no issues.I usually email the CM at WDW resorts and that has worked, do you typically email preferences at HHI? Email or chat should work, but I'd also recommend calling them maybe a week out and talk to a live person at HHI. They do the room assignments right there in the back office at the resort, so the person you talk to may be the one doing room assignments. And, as things are so fluid with reservations (cancellations, switching dates, requests for rooms changing, et. al.), it couldn't hurt.I usually email the CM at WDW resorts and that has worked, do you typically email preferences at HHI? I would highly recommend calling DHHIR itself.I usually email the CM at WDW resorts and that has worked, do you typically email preferences at HHI? I was thinking about asking for building 28 specifically, but any other near the pool would be okay as well.
They do not issue Magic Bands at the resort, nor as a general rule do people use them. That being said, some guests have reported they are able to link the bands to open doors, etc., but many have said they couldn't get the bands to work or that they don't work all the time. When you check in, the front desk will give you the typical room cards, one for each guest if you wish. Will we be using Magic Bands for access around the resort...rooms, beach house, gate, etc?
Also, we will have guests staying with us who are not Disney people, they won't have magic bands. Will they get cards for routine access at the front desk?
