Hhi In November??

Hi, all! Still investigating some possibilities for our vacations this year--Has anyone been to HHI over Thanksgiving? My trusty guide book says avg high of 69, but what have your experiences been in Nov? Do they do anything special? Do I have a decent shot at 7 mo window, or are all holidays difficult? I think I keep changing my mind just so I have a reason to talk w/ you all!! Not to mention I NEEEEEED to think of sunny places b/c I just shoveled out a foot of snow from the drive--BRRRR!! We've spent Thanksgiving at HH four times and already have our reservations for 2003!

The weather has ranged from 80s (when we were swimming in the pools regularly and able to sit out on the beach [ocean temps were a bit nippy, tho]) to 30s and 40s this year. It was a "bit" chilly.

You can order a turkey dinner from the resort -- either roast turkey or deep-fried -- with all the trimmings. We just make our own dinner, it's really become our family's Thanksgiving tradition!

One of our favorite things is the Turkey Bowl -- touch football game on the beach on Thanksgiving morning. There are a lot of other activities at the resort, as well, but those are all I can think of that are exclusive to Thanksgiving.

We never spent Thanksgiving away from home before Thanksgiving 2001 when we spent it at HH. It was great! Of course the weather last year was a bit warmer than normal but not by a lot.The Beach house was open but not the snack bar.I would recommend it as I think my kids would also. Next Thanksgiving we will be at "home" at BW.

wow--thanks for the quick responses. Sounds like a definite option. Any thoughts on availability?? Has it been packed when you've been there, or do you think we might luck out at 7 mo window?

I know that for Thanksgiving 2002, the resort was at 100% capacity. (We stayed through Sunday night, when it went down to about 30%!!) BUT, that doesn't mean that everyone booked during the 11 month window!

I would suggest that you call Member Services now, even though you can't book yet, and just ask about the availability. If it seems pretty tight, call day-by-day at the 7-month window.
