We went to HHI several years ago and swore never to go back (not staying at DVC, but an "upscale" resort on the ocean).

Well, we decided to give it another shot and wanted to poll the audience for great things to do with teens and an infant.

We are bringing our bikes to do some serious riding, but need many more suggestions to keep the kids busy for the week.

Any great things you've done that might be fun?

Please share. :grouphug:

Thanks!

Lots of people will chime in with suggestions, but I'm curious - why did you swear it off? It's one of the best vacations we ever took - my DDs 16 and 11 loved just relaxing by the pool and hanging out in the DVC unit. We're crazy about Hilton Head, even without the beach (we went in late fall.)

the reasons were varied.

We were spoiled by the Disney experiences we had previously enjoyed and were completely disappointed in the resort we chose to stay in.

the wind was blowing hard that week so the beach was not enjoyable.

we had spent the previous three years in Destin and the beaches on HHI did not compare.

some of the reasons...

May I second the request for things to do with teens, especially after 10:00PM?

We will have 2 teens and 2 twenty-somethings with the family. They don't wind down after dinner. They are looking for something to do.

There's not a ton to do after 10 pm. I believe some of the miniature golf places stay open until 11 pm. There is always a large crowd at the ice cream place that is right outside Sea Pines Circle (it has sort of a Carribbean flair, Marley's)--they have live music late at night. There might be one or two other clubs, but someone else would have to chime in on that. The beach never closes---my dh and I enjoy late night strolls! And there are a couple of movie theaters. And Wal-mart is open 24 hours for shopping! (can you tell I'm a mom?)

If you can get your kids up early and going on all those fun activities, like Kayaking at 8 am, etc., plus a day full of activities, they might fall asleep for you. Ya' never know....
