Are we crazy for considering this?

We just became members of DVC, and DH took vacation days in Dec before checking with me (how dare he?!?!) and it’s for the first weekend of Dec, so of course nothing is available with DVC. We could pay cash, but we started toying with the idea of doing something different this year.

So, we were thinking about going to HHI, but I am a wimp when it comes to cold environs. I think I could suck it up and am getting myself excited about the idea. I think a laid back weekend in an otherwise busy December may be just the thing for us.

Has anyone gone in December? What kind of activities do they have at HHI? Anything festive happen?

Never went that time of year but would really like to. Never heard a negative comment about HHI between T-Day and Christmas from anyone on the boards.

Probably OK for pool , and you never know about the ocean....also pace I think get slower around then but that would work for our family.

Good luck

We have spent alot of Decembers at HHI. Once we did 5 nights during xmas week when DH was younger. We have stayed 1-2 nights on the way down or back from WDW during the last 5 xmas weeks. Some have included NYE or New years day, others included xmas eve. Its a great time to be there, but weather is very unpredictable, one year it was in the 30-40s with gloves and hats on the walk on the beach, another year it was 60 and DS swam in the heated pool. There are still many activities at the resort, lots of shopping etc. Disney has holiday decoratiosn, cookies with Santa, oyster roast, southern snowball fights(using tube socks!), many other resorts have holiday displays also. One year we went to a live nativity play in Sea Pines and it was wonderful..so you are not crazy to think of December. I know that many businesses do close after Jan 1 for their vacations thru Feb or so, from what we have been told. We will be there 12/30-1/1 this year after 4 nights at AKLV.
