Can anyone tell me what is HHI like in April in terms of crowds and weather? Is it warm enough to go to the beach or sit by the pool? We're considering going there during the 3rd week of April. Do they do anything special for Easter Sunday?

How far is the nearest airport?

April is pretty crowded at Hilton Head -- I think the only time it's more crowded is during the summer months! A lot of people like HH for spring break.

We have been there several times during the first week in April. At times, it's been in the 80s -- beautiful beach and pool weather (although the ocean was still a bit chilly). Other times, it's been cool and rainy.

There is also a major golf tournament on the island during April, which brings major crowds, as does Easter.

The resort does have Easter activities, and also has Easter dinners that can be delivered to your villa.

Good luck. It's a great resort, just sometimes difficult to reserve.

;)

If you can avoid Easter week and Heritage golf week, April is great! Sometines they both fall at the same time, then it's really crazy here. After those times it slows down considerably. The weather is great then

Is it really warm enough to go to the beach and in the ocean that early though? We are considering the same time frame.

It's a bit of a gamble...the weather can easily go either way. Here's some historical weather data. Also, in the ocean temp hasn't warmed up yet from the summer temps. If I was going to chance a trip where I wanted to have some actual beach time without the heat and humidity of the summer...I'd probably try for late September or early October.

I tried to copy it here...but the formatting is a mess.

We were there this past April during Easter week and it was nice and warm enough during the day to sunbathe and wear a bathing suit and get in the heated pools, or walk the beach. However, most people just got their feet wet as opposed to swimming in the ocean, as the ocean was still a little cool for that.

We're considering our first trip to HH next April too. I called MS the other day & there was still some availability but it was going fast.

Can anyone comment if the crowd equation holds true the week after Easter? We were thinking of arriving the day after Easter and staying 6 nights.

FWIW, the golf tournament falls on April 11-17th next year. Easter is March 27th, right? Sounds like the week after Easter would be a good one.

Our Spring Break falls the week before the golf tournament. We might consider HH - but I'd rather try Vero. Then again, two weeks after Easter at WDW might be a good idea too! Wonder how the crowds are then...

Fortunately for me, ours fall the week after April 15th. I am an accountant so it makes it real possible that we might do it. The weather looks a little cool though. The kids love the swimming.

I love Hilton Head in April. It's usually very warm....80's, but the ocean temperature can still be cool. If you compare Hilton Head to Orlando in April the temerature difference is about 5-10 degrees.
