Anyone go to HHI for spring break? We were considering it, and since we are right on the inside of the 7 month window, we need to act now if possible.

Just wondering how crowded it is over there around the beginning of April and how cold it still may be?

Just got back from there on a short weekend trip. It was a great place! On the down side, it was sunny and cloudless, but very windy. So much so that our dolphin tour this morning was cancelled due to choppy water on account of the winds... :sad2:

We'll be there the last week of March for our 3rd straight year.

We had nice warm weather this year until Thur and Fri. The winds picked up and it was rather cold. Plus our kayaking trip was canceled too.

We used to go during the first week of April every year, since that was our kids' spring break. (Kids are now on their own or in college so we don't have to worry about that anymore!)

We had some years when the temperatures were in the 80s and you could hardly tell the difference from July (except that the humidity was lower. ;) ) We also had years when the temperatures were so cold that people were leaving the resort in droves!

Most likely you will have good weather; you'll be able to use the pools since they're heated and you will be able to go to the beach, although you probably won't want to go into the ocean, since the water temperatures will likely be pretty chilly.

No matter what the weather, if you can get the reservation, go! There is plenty to do, even if the weather doesn't cooperate.

We had friends go to a non Disney resort at HH the first week of April this year and they loved it. They said it was not near as crowded as FL and the weather was great. It was only a long days drive vs over 20 hours to Orlando.

It is on our to do list on a future spring break.

We went this year the end of March. It was very different that when we usually go in July. My kids (12 & 7) chose to not swim in the pool as they thought it was too chilly, however, my 7 year old loved the "hot pool" and was the only one brave enough to try it out. We didn't have cold weather, just not swimming weather in our opinion.

There are also no lifeguards on the beach if you chose to venture into the even cooler ocean water.

We did have a lot of fun playing on the beach, making sand castles & flying kites. We also enjoyed more dining in restaurants as that's not something we usually do in the summer months because it's very crowded.

We went out to Dufuskie Island as the first trip done there for beach combing that year. Getting from the boat to the beach was pretty chilly in the water (thigh height) but we survived and had a good time.

The one activity we love to do in the summer which we didn't do was shark fishing. The water was too chilly for them as well.

The one unexpected thing was the sand-fleas or no see ums. Make sure and wear bugspray outside as their bites leave a lasting, itchy impression.
