Looks like we can only afford flights in February to Hilton Head (DH wants to try something other than Disney gasp) but we would like to stay at the Disney resort. My concern is that everything will be closed then. Will it be too cold to.swim? Thanks for any advice!

While the ocean may be too cold to swim, the pool will still be open. To make it 'swimable' though it will depend on the outside air temperature. It will probably be hit or miss for swimming.

The rest of the island will still be open. They operate year-round. It may not be as crowded, but it won't be a Griswold visit to Wallyworld. It would be a great time for bike riding or golfing as the weather isn't miserably hot. I'd be glad to go at that time. There still is a lot to do.

We went end of Jan/beginning of Feb and it was a little chilly for me but my husband was comfortable. There were some closed restaurants on HHI, but mostly everything was open and the traffic was nice and non-existent lol. We didn't swim, but we did take a tour of the island through Disney, did some fishing and ate at some really good places. I like the 'off-season' :)

When we went in February, it was in the 50s, definitely too cold to swim. But everyone kept telling us "You should have been here last week-it was in the 80s!" Everything was up and running.

A few places may close during the off season but I suspect even most of those will be open again by the end of Feb. I wouldn't count on swimming or the beach, it is usually pretty chilly during Feb though it's hit or miss. Some of the timeshares & condo's on HHI have an indoor pool and can be quite reasonable for that time if you want to look at something else.

My brother and sister in law enjoy HHI that time of year. They have said typically too cold to swim, but they enjoy bike riding, etc, sweatshirt weather.
