Has anyone stayed at the HIFS?
Last time we did WDW we stayed at the Bdwalk.
Need to spend WAY less this time. have 2 kids 7 & 9
am not spending entire trip in wdw, need to do universal

Never stayed there but Welcome to the DIS! I am sure someone here or on the Orlando hotel board can help. Do check www.mousesavers.com out before ruling out Disney resorts. Depending on dates, you could get a moderate for as low as $84 I think. Have fun! :)

Welcome to the DIS!

I've never stayed at HIFS but have heard really good things about them.

Also----

If you go to Dreams Unlimited you will find some really good deals on rooms. Right now the Marriot at DD is $25.00 per night. (per room not per person)

Also, Dreams Unlimited and DreamsRes sponser these boards and by booking your vacation through them you will help insure the boards are here for everyones enjoyment.

Haven't stayed there yet, but will be there in less than 2 weeks! Do a search on these boards, there are tons of posts on HIFS, most of them good.
BTW, when are you going? They are running a special package now through Dec. 22 that includes 2 adult buffet dinners daily. DreamRes has the package for $109 per night!

You will not be disapointed we stayed there in March and loved it. You will have plenty of room with 2 kids. Be sure to request a room overlooking zero-depth pool the other buildings are a bit of a walk from them. Every room is themed ours was race car with Dale Earnhardt, my parents also went theirs was coke-a-cola with the polar bear. They are supposed to have diseny themed rooms you should try to get one. You will be happy if you stay there.

Thanks for all the feedback. I got the 109 rate. To get the zero-depth pool view there
is an upgrade charge of $20.
I did call the resort directly to ask NOT to get the race car theme. My girls would scream.
thanks for mentioning that. i asked for a disney theme room so we'll see.
We are from NJ so of course we are going the week of the teacher's convention 11/7-11/13.
We'll be there for 6 nights and the girls will only miss 2 days of school.

heatherw:
Was that for the Family Values Package (2 adult buffets per day)? I ask because I just changed my ressies to that plan, and I specifically asked if there were any restrictions as to the rooms offered at this rate, and was told no! I wasn't told anything about a $20 upgrade, do you know if that applies to certain buildings, or just suites with the windows facing the pool? Thanks, I hope we don't get stuck 3 miles from the pool!

Yes, I have the family values plan. I only asked for a zero-depth pool view room and was told there was an upcharge.
I called the resort directly for that request. It doesn't really matter to me how close we are to the pool - my girls are a little older now and we can walk the one or two times we're actuallly going to use the pool.

I can't say for sure with this resort, but try joining holiday inns' priority club. It may give you a better chance of getting room requests.

Sorry, forgot to add this....
try asking for a room near the pool. that shouldn't cost any extra. I read on one of these message boards that lower floor rooms were preferable because the elevators are really slow

we stayed there in march the elevators are a bit slow lower floors are better we were on the 5th floor and walked down a few times because we were waiting a while. As far as the pool goes but you just want to make sure you are in a building by the zero-depth pool the other buildings overlook a lap pool and it is a bit of a walk if you get a room on that side to go to the zero-depth side.

We also stayed at HIFS in March 2001 and we loved it!! Dd loved having a seperate room plus nintendo 64 included[the games rent for $5.00 per 24 hours]!! We loved having a door that closed!! And 3 TV's,Dd could watch MTV or play nintendo,Dh could watch Star Trek, and grandbaby fell asleep to the Country Music station!! The free breakfast was a money saver!! the family Kareoke was a ton of fun!! the kids enjoyed the pool! And We're closer to the WDW Theme Parks than at All Stars!! WE ARE TRUE FANS OF THIS HOTEL!! It was fab!!

We were really disappointed on our move to All Stars Music it is just a motel room with no theming at all unless you include a star shaped wall light?? Not a sign of Mickey anywhere.
Our memories of A S Music is was not of the theming but what we saw everytime we left the room the parking lot.
