HH wait list on Columbus Day? -- Chances?

What should I do?

I have reservations at HH for 3nts Oct3,4,5 (Sun-Wed). Have to change dates.

Tried Oct 10,11,12 (Sun-Wed). 11 and 12 now booked, but had to wait list the 10th, which is night before Columbus Day.

Am not sure 10th will come through this late, being a holiday.

I would like to go Sept 26,27,28 (sun-wed), but have October use year and am afraid if something changes I will lose all those points. There's not a high possibility, but my family has a lot going on with some sickly extended family, and you never know. The longer I wait to book the September dates, the less chance I have. The earlier I book, the greater chance of something coming up and losing the points.

What are my chances of HH wait list coming through on Columbus day????

Should I hang with the Columbus Day week and hope for the wait list -- or should I just take my chances with the September dates with the outside possibility of losing the 36 points.

Would you consider staying somewhere off site for the one night? That's what I would chose to do, especially you still have 2 consecutive days, you can check in early in the morning of the 11th and enjoy the resort even if you don't have your room. Plus, you still have the waitlist in case it comes through. We're newer members too, and with a March use year, I'm looking elsewhere for Martin Luther King Jr. weekend and Pres. weekend, not using DVC then.

Actually, my plan is to stay somewhere else on the Saturday night and check in early on the tenth.
